St Francis Xavier's is an inner-city school in the unique tropical north region of Cairns. Student enrolments encompass a diverse range of nationalities from many parts of the world. St Francis Xavier's School has a multicultural diversity of children and time is taken to encompass the language, religion, economy, government and other cultural phenomena from our children's backgrounds which then c

onnects to their real world. St Francis Xavier's was founded by the sisters of St Joseph in 1961. The school continues the traditions and charism of the Sisters of St Joseph, and celebrates the major feast days of Mark MacKillop, St Joseph and St Francis Xavier. 'Never see a need without doing something about it!' - St Mary MacKillop

Geographically, St Francis Xavier's is located within the Cairns West Parish, with Father Frank Gordon as Parish Priest. Providing a distinctive Catholic education with a real-life and inclusive approach to religious education and spiritual formation, St Francis Xavier's strives to live out our motto - Know, Love and Serve, God and each other. Last Tuesday, our school leaders attended the Empowerment Summit held at Rydges Cairns. Our six student leaders participated in a range of activities, connected with peers from other schools, and shared their ideas and feedback.

This was the follow up to the previous workshop attended in term 2. Their confidence and willingness to speak in front of others demonstrated the strong leadership qualities that exist within our school community.

Thank you to our school leaders for proudly representing SFX and being excellent ambassadors for our school.
