Bullying No Way! Week 💜

Talking Topic #4 — I’ve Been Called a Bully… What Can I Do?

Today, students across our school explored an important question: “I’ve been called a bully — what can I do?”

Using resources from www.bullyingnoway.gov.au, students engaged in age-appropriate learning and conversations about what it means when someone says our words or actions have hurt or upset them, and what we can do to make things right.

Students were encouraged to think about the importance of listening, taking responsibility, showing empathy and making positive choices. We talked about how everyone can make mistakes, and being called a bully doesn’t mean we can’t learn, grow and make better choices moving forward. Sometimes, the most important step is being willing to listen, reflect on our behaviour and seek help from a trusted adult.

This is another valuable conversation to continue at home. Families can reinforce the message that mistakes are opportunities to learn, and that we all have a responsibility to treat others with kindness, respect and care.

Helping children understand how their actions affect others — and giving them the confidence to make positive changes — supports the creation of a safe, welcoming and inclusive school community. 💜

Bullying No Way! Week 💜

Talking Topic # 3— I’ve Seen Someone Being Bullied… What Can I Do?

Today, students across our school explored an important question: “I’ve seen someone being bullied — what can I do?”

Using resources from www.bullyingnoway.gov.au, students engaged in age-appropriate learning and conversations about how they can safely support someone who is being bullied and how they can help make a difference.

Students were encouraged to think about the importance of
1. Showing you don’t agree.
2. Speaking up.
3. Offering support.
4. Reporting it to a trusted adult.

We talked about how being a bystander doesn’t mean we have to stand by — there are safe and positive ways we can help. 💜

This is another great conversation to continue at home. Families can reinforce the message that we all have a role to play in creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive school community.

Reminding children that they can make a difference, and that they don’t have to deal with bullying alone, helps reinforce the important messages being shared across our school this week. 💜
