Machans Beach Outside School Hours Care

Good luck to these two who will be going on their first teaching pracs! Willow is away next week at Cairns West primary and Damo from Wednesday. Damo's doing a bit of soiree-ing in Japan before his prac which is at Machans so we'll still see him around school and sometimes OSHC. Your kids may have him as their teacher!

Here it is, our April school holiday program!
As always, it is pretty much written by the children, their suggestions and favourites!
We have some kids already planning their Master Chef creations, asking for ingredients and particular gadgets, such as a 'lolly thermometer '! We might put making boiled lollies on the back burner for now 😵‍💫😆
Let's hope the rain stays away for our outdoor days 🤞🏼

We're a wee mob, but a great mob and only half of us could make the soiree today! All the better for us though because the share boards were amazing 😆 A lovely afternoon nibbling, sipping, chatting and lots of laughing.
To our gorgeous Ash and Roy, thank you both for being the most wonderful colleagues, educators, team extraordinaires, friends and all round fabulous humans.
Ash, you've been a Machans OSHCie for 6 years and the shoes you have left to fill are enormous! Thank you for every thing you have done with such generosity, grace and kindness. We hope you say YES many times to relief shifts 😃
Roy, the primary teaching world will gain an amazing human once you've finished your degree. You will be one of those teachers that all of your students will remember as their fave! We will miss you a lot!

After a wee soiree at the movies, we did some cooking. These 5 were so impressive on multiple levels of kitchen safety, respect for eachother and general chit chat and banter while cooking. They cooked what we needed for the 'make your own pizza' afternoon tea. I didn't do much, mostly clearing stuff out if the way while these guys got on with the business and we chatted, it was really lovely 😊

We are going to miss you Ayla, so very much, but excited for you, Tom and Luna for your caravan-ing adventure! Thank you for everything you have done as a part of the Machans OSHC Team for the past 5 years. You are amazing ❤️

Home made Maccas, impromptu hair washing, loose parts creations, swaying in the breeze and an exercise area!

All of this is child led play. They made it up. They organised themselves (and eachother!) They displayed creativity, engineering skills, persistence, kindness, empathy, teamwork, social skills and many more valuable life skills. All through child led play. Play is the work of children.
