Over the weekend, five of our junior musicians represented the College at the Qld Conservatorium of Music State Honours Ensemble Program - Cayden, Benjamin, Leon Victor and Leo. Students are selected for the Wind Ensemble or String Orchestra and rehearse from Friday afternoon through to Sunday morning with students from all around the region. The weekend culminates in a wonderful concert on the Sunday afternoon. Thanks must go to St Mary's for hosting SHEP again this year.

As part of the Australian Chamber Music Festival, Saints hosted the Orpheus Quintet for their recording yesterday with Nigel Pegrum (Pegasus Studios). The music was delightful and we're excited to hear the final mix.

🎢 One of the most powerful things about ensemble music-making is the sense of belonging it creates.

Students don't just learn music, they become part of something bigger than themselves.

Tag a fellow ensemble teacher, conductor, or music educator who helps create that sense of belonging every day. πŸ‘‡

Music learning doesn't just change what we can do, it can change the brain itself. 🧠

Research suggests that musical training is associated with structural and functional changes across multiple brain regions, highlighting music's powerful impact on human development.

If more people understood this, how might it change the way music is valued in schools?
