While we are very excited to hear from you, please be aware that we reserve the right to moderate this page as we see fit and remove any posts or materials that we deem inapp

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

Our Kindergarten children at Goodstart Manunda enjoyed a wonderful hands-on sensory experience as they created their own scents through play! 🌸🌿

Using natural aromas and assorted open ended material, the children explored their senses by mixing and choosing different scents to create unique sensory combinations. This fun and interactive experience encouraged creativity, curiosity, communication, and fine motor development.

Hands-on learning experiences like these help children build confidence as they explore the world around them through touch, smell, and imaginative play. 💛

Today in our Kindergarten room at Goodstart Manunda, the children explored scents and senses through creative playdough experiences! 🌿✨

Using their sense of smell and touch, the children were invited to select their own scents to add to the playdough, encouraging independence, curiosity, and sensory exploration. From calming lavender to refreshing citrus, each creation became a unique sensory experience.

Through hands-on play, the children developed fine motor skills, creativity, language, and confidence as they described the different smells, textures, and feelings they experienced together. 💛

Using a variety of fresh produce, the children designed unique face creations while learning about healthy food choices, colours, textures, and different tastes. After creating their masterpieces, the children enjoyed using their senses to explore the foods even further by tasting and eating their creations! 👃👀👅

Our Junior Kindy children have been reaching for the stars as they explored space through creative finger painting and messy play experiences! 🌌🖐️

The children worked together to create a beautiful sky for our Space Learning Station, using their imaginations to paint galaxies, stars, and colourful night skies. Through sensory play and hands-on creativity, the children explored textures, colours, and self-expression while learning about the wonders of space. 🌟🌙

It was a fun and engaging experience filled with curiosity, creativity, and lots of messy smiles! 💙
