Wednesday last week looked a little different as we celebrated NAIDOC Week. 🌿
Our young people were empowered with the choice to stay at college and watch ‘The Rabbit-Proof Fence’, or head out to Goomboora Park to build a campfire and cook damper. 🔥
The groups ended up evenly split, with plenty of positive feedback from both activities. It was fantastic to see our young people embracing the opportunity to learn, connect and celebrate in different ways. 🖤💛❤️

Yesterday we celebrated HSE NAIDOC Week with Bori Muy. 🎣🧺 Bori Muy
Our young people headed to Yorkeys K**b for a day of fishing and weaving, taking the opportunity to slow down, connect with Country, and build meaningful relationships while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside Bori Muy and look forward to many more opportunities to connect in the future. 💛

Held each year on 4 August, this day celebrates the strength, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. It also highlights the importance of ensuring every child grows up connected to their family, community, language and culture.

One of the highlights of this week was Tuesday’s Outdoor Education session! 🔥🌿
A group of keen young people headed to Goomboora Park to learn about campfire safety, while building their problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills along the way.
During today’s end-of-week “What Went Well” reflection, several of the young people who attended shared that this was their favourite part of the week. Moments like these remind us how valuable hands-on learning and time outdoors can be! 💚

Our first Holy Spirit Connection Café was a wonderful success this morning! ☕💙
Our young people took on a variety of important roles throughout the morning—taking orders, preparing coffees, serving customers, delivering orders, inviting local organisations and workers from our street to join us, and sharing delicious coffees and pikelets made during Robbie’s cooking session yesterday.
It was fantastic to see them building confidence, developing practical life skills, and creating meaningful connections within our community. We’re so proud of their efforts and can’t wait to welcome even more smiling faces to our next Connection Café! 😊
