Just a quick shout-out to all our wonderful students and families on a truly inspiring start to 2026.โœจ๏ธ

The beginning of a new year is always a bit nerve-wracking for us as we anxiously wait to see who has decided to return after having such a long holiday break. This year we were genuinely humbled to see that almost everyone has returned, and we couldnโ€™t be happier or more grateful. ๐Ÿ–ค

Hereโ€™s a few snaps from our first week of classes. The protective gear has already made an appearance which is always a hit (pun intended).

Weโ€™re hoping to be a bit more active with posting regular content this year, so stay tuned to the page and our new Instagram account as well. ๐Ÿค›

Many parents worry about their teenagers when theyโ€™re out in the world. Walking home. Catching public transport. Going to parties.

We believe the ability to protect yourself and the people you love is one of the most valuable skills a family can share, not just something for kids to learn alone. In our Seniors classes, parents and guardians are invited to train side by side with their teenagers, learning practical, real-world safety skills they can genuinely rely on.

When parents train with their teens, something powerful happens.
Conversations open up. Confidence grows faster. And the lessons learned in class naturally carry into everyday life.

Our 2025 classes concluded last week. A huge thank you to all of our students and families who have dedicated their time, energy and effort to attend classes and support us throughout the year. Whether youโ€™ve been with us for years or have only recently joined, we are endlessly grateful to you all.

This year included some significant milestones for us, not least of which was our change of venue midway through the year. While the warmer months have made us miss the air-conditioned comfort of our previous space just a little, the benefits of a larger area and a wider range of training environments have greatly enhanced the experiences we can offer.

It wouldnโ€™t feel right to wrap up the year without sharing a little more footage from recent classes. This term, we introduced our Juniors (11โ€“15 years) to strategies for detecting, defusing and defending against threats involving edged weapons. Given the high-risk nature of this topic, we have traditionally limited this content to our adult students. However, with the increasing prevalence of weapon-related incidents in our community, we felt a cautious, respectful and age-appropriate introduction was both relevant and worthwhile. Our approach is grounded heavily in non-violent strategy and theory, with physical responses considered only when all other options have been exhausted or are unavailable.

Lastly, a big congratulations to Miss L from our Juniors group, who was promoted to Level 1 Black last week. Watch until the end of the video to see some footage of her in action.

We wish everyone a safe, happy and restful holiday and look forward to seeing you all back in 2026.

โ€“ Kris, Gemma, Raf and Seb

Itโ€™s been a while since weโ€™ve posted any content, so we thought weโ€™d share just a few snippets of what weโ€™ve been working on with our youngest cohort this term.

This term weโ€™ve dived deep into anti-abduction skills, and the kids have absolutely risen to the challenge! We kicked off with essential awareness and prevention strategies, then levelled up each week with progressively tougher disengagement and escape scenarios. From resisting attempts to be forced into or out of vehicles to creating split-second opportunities to break free from mock โ€œhostageโ€ situations, theyโ€™ve tackled every challenge with confidence and creativity. The dynamic scenarios have been a huge hitโ€ฆ and letโ€™s just say the kids have thoroughly enjoyed testing their skills on Kris in his protective gear!
