Future Ready | Year 10 SET Planning

Our Year 10 cohort have just wrapped up their SET Planning interviews over the past few weeks, making important decisions about their future pathways and securing their subject selections for their senior years.

The interviews followed our NCC Senior Subject Expo, where students had the opportunity to explore their senior pathways, learn more about the subjects and courses available, and gather the information they needed to help make informed choices about what comes next.

A huge congratulations to our 𝐔𝟏𝟐 𝐁𝐨𝐲𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝟏𝟐 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬, who both came away as Champions at the 2026 FNQ School Futsal Titles Redlynch Central Sports Stadium!

An outstanding achievement from both teams, who represented NCC with fantastic teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Year 11 Aquatic Practices | JCU TropWATER

One of the many benefits of our College being located within the JCU: James Cook University, Australia campus is giving our senior students opportunities to connect with JCU researchers and experience real-world learning right on our doorstep.

Our Year 11 Aquatic Practices students recently visited JCU TropWATER to help Dr Paul York and his team prepare seagrass samples for planting in Mourilyan Harbour.

Severe La Niña-driven flooding and extreme weather events from 2007–2011 caused catastrophic loss of seagrass meadows in the area. The TropWATER team is working with volunteers and Traditional Owner ranger groups to help restore these important seagrass meadows.

Healthy seagrass meadows stabilise sediment, improve water quality, store excess carbon and are a vital food source for marine organisms such as turtles and dugongs.

Another fantastic opportunity for our senior students!

Making Waves at Secondary School Surf Life Saving

Recently, some of our NCC students represented the College at the Surf Life Saving Queensland Secondary School Surf League at Yorkeys K**b Beach.

Students contested the swim, board, iron, sprints and flags events. A huge well done to those who put their hands up to compete, with some taking on an ocean swim or board event for the very first time!

Congratulations to Connor, who won the beach sprint, and to Stella and Connor, who both placed second in their flags races!

A fantastic day at the beach. Well done, Team NCC!

NCC Debating Semi-Finals!

Your hard work, commitment and determination throughout the competition have been truly outstanding.

What a fantastic two days for Team NCC at the TCN Track & Field Carnival!

Our athletes delivered some outstanding performances across the track and field, with plenty of podium finishes and nine NCC students claiming first place across 13 events!

NCC Student Spotlight | 2026 Trade Student of the Year!

Congratulations 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, winner of the 2026 Trade Excellence Awards | Trade Student of the Year.

We were proud to have two Newman Catholic College students nominated for this prestigious award. Congratulations to James on his nomination, and a special congratulations to India on being named the 2026 Trade Student of the Year.

While completing her Year 11 studies, India is also undertaking the 11054 𝑁𝐴𝑇 𝐶𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝐼𝐼 𝑖𝑛 𝑃𝑙𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑆𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑠 through the TAFE Queensland at Schools program and proudly serves as our Year 11 Indigenous Leader.

India's achievement reflects her dedication, leadership and commitment to pursuing excellence both in the classroom and through vocational education.
