Hello, my name is Vicki and I am the educator behind Little Natures Family Day Care (registered with Family Day Care South). I have held my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care for 4 years, working in long day care settings as a Lead Educator and Assistant educator. During these roles I have acquired knowledge and skills that are essential to providing quality education and care to children. I hold a current First Aid, CPR and anaphylaxis certificate.
At Little Natures I have created an inviting and inspiring natural environment, allowing the children to explore spacious indoor and outdoor environments where the children are provided with meaningful experiences to encourage child led play. I encourage awareness of environmentally friendly wooden resources and upcycled resources as well as implementing practices that will contribute to a sustainable future.
How I will help the children to learn and grow at Little Naturesβ¦
I will provide educational, inclusive and meaningful experiences that will empower children to make their own choices, promote social interactions and spark curiosity, creativity and their imaginations throughout our play program. I will encourage children to explore and challenge themselves at a pace that is comfortable for their own individual development. Through open ended play opportunities, I will observe and listen to their thoughts and ideas and document this learning to further extend on each individual childβs interests and needs.
I will support children to follow their own interests and create their own play experiences enhancing their individual strengths, talents and allowing them to find their own identities and gain a sense of wellbeing. Daily activities will encourage participation and fun, play is how children make sense of the world around them, I will provide children with opportunities to play, learn and grow. As an educator I will strive to encourage children to become independent, resilient and confident and to reach their full potential.
I believe that good eating habits should be introduced at a young age and will make sure that I role model and provide educational experiences for children to learn and consume a variety of nutritional foods. At Little Natures we follow a healthy eating policy.
I respect that we are all different and come from different cultural backgrounds. I aim to educate and create awareness of cultural acceptance and will consider home and cultural backgrounds when introducing routines and experiences. Culture plays an important part of who we are and is imperative to childrenβs learning.
Values
I believe that children need to feel safe, secure and supported in order to form trusting relationships with their educator. While children are in an educational environment, they need to feel loved and cared for before they are able to learn. At Little Natures I provide a safe, loving and caring homelike environment for all children. All children are treated as equals regardless of abilities, race, gender or additional needs.
I believe that children are confident, competent and involved learners who can resource their own learning and knowledge of the world around them. At Little Natures I endeavour to build trusting and supportive relationships with children that allows them to:
Β· Feel a sense of belonging, wellbeing, security and a strong sense of identity
