Writing your own homeschool plan can be empowering! Then again, running a marathon can also be empowering but not everyone wants or is able to do it!

I have met people who run the most amazing home education programs for their kids but can’t quite articulate what they do the way HEU wants them to.

I have met unschoolers whose kids are learning more than the kids at the private school down the road, but fitting that into a plan is really hard and confusing.

I have met parents who are so busy juggling homeschooling, work, household juggles, social activities and the rest, that sitting down for a few hours to write a plan is simply infeasible.

I’ve met parents new to homeschooling that just need support for that first plan and long term homeschoolers that plain just don’t want to do the plan.

No matter what your story or situation, I can support you with getting your plan written and approved. 😊

The past few weeks I have been super busy supporting people write their home education plans. I feel so blessed to be able to do something I love so much. I’m not sure too many people can say they enjoy writing plans 😜🤣 It’s not just the writing I love, it’s supporting families as they begin or continue their home education journeys, learning about their children and then finding ways to make their learning journey as unique as they are.

Often when I’m asking parents the necessary questions to gather information to write their plans, I’m met with some trepidation because the parent feels they may be doing something wrong. We are so used to education looking the same for everyone that when we take a different route, we wonder if what we’re doing is ok.
The mum whose children play outside all day worries that she’s not offering enough formal learning.
The family who uses bought curriculum and has set learning hours worries that they’re not carving out enough nature play.
The parent who allows their children unlimited screen time, questions whether they should impose some limits.
The dad who schools without screens wonders if his children will be on a level playing field in a digital world.
The mum whose child is eleven and not yet reading wonders if she should start formal instruction.
The parent of the 5year old who is reading fluently wonders if there’s enough balance in their child’s life.

The thing is, when you choose homeschooling you are choosing freedom. You have the freedom to educate your child how you see fit and the right way to homeschool is the way that suits your family. We live in a word where there is almost always instant feedback and gratification but with homeschooling there isn’t anyone cheering you on or telling you you’re doing a good job or on the right track. You have to trust, own your choices and listen to the needs of your family. That is the only way to homeschool and really the only thing you have to do!

I assure you it’s possible and desirable for parents to write their own plans but I also understand in these crazy times, it’s a lot to think about. I offer a range of options to suit your needs and always take the time to chat to you about how you might go about homeschooling, leaving you feeling confident to start your homeschooling journey YOUR way!

I am a registered teacher with an in-depth understanding of the Australian Curriculum and have been homeschooling my own children the past 3 years and understand that educating at home looks nothing like educating in a traditional classroom. I’ve been successfully writing plans for HEU for 7years.
