As Term One draws to a close and we approach Easter, our students have taken home a small sunflower seedling as a symbol of growth, hope and connection. 🌻 For our 2026 Year 6 cohort, the gesture holds special meaning, with many having received a sunflower themselves as Prep students during COVID. Now, they have helped share that same message of belonging across our College community. 💙 We look forward to hearing about the growth of sunflowers next term. We look forward to seeing them live out the College values of Respect, Responsibility, Care and Compassion, Co-operation, Honesty and Trustworthiness in the year ahead. https://www.smccab.qld.edu.au/news/celebrating-our-2026-student-leaders

On February 13, 2008, the Australian Parliament acknowledged the grief and suffering caused by past government policies that forcibly removed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families.
While the Apology was a landmark moment, we recognise that the journey toward healing and reconciliation is ongoing and we commit to a future built on respect and genuine understanding.

Term 1 is well underway, and we’re so proud of the way our students are settling in, supporting one another and starting the year with a positive attitude. 💙 From the Prep “My first day” moments, to confident “strong” smiles, and with our classroom detectives on the case — it’s been a wonderful start to the term.
