Our Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC40421) students are putting their learning into action by participating in a special Family Fun Day celebrating Queensland Child Protection Week on Wednesday, the 9th of September.

On the day, students will host a range of free activities for local children and families, including:

🎪 Community barbecue
🎨 Child-friendly activity stalls
🎵 Live music performances
🥦 An art activity promoting healthy food choices
🏃 Obstacle courses and ball games
🏀 Round-robin games, including Giant Connect 4, basketball and hopscotch

For our Youth Work students, the day provides a valuable opportunity to connect with the community, develop practical skills and gain real-world experience in a supportive youth and family services environment.

The Family Fun Day forms part of National Child Protection Week, 6 to 12 September 2026, reinforcing the message that protecting children is everybody’s business.

Science is shaping the future - and it was fantastic to see that future in action at TAFE Queensland’s Applied Science Industry Day during National Science Week. 🧪🔬

This event brought our Applied Science team together with experienced industry professionals and our Certificate III and IV students.

The attendees shared ideas, discussed career opportunities and explored career pathways into the laboratory and applied science industries.

With industry-standard technology and instrumentation, TAFE Queensland students are developing the practical skills employers need - and the talent on display was a great reminder of the exciting future ahead for science.

📸🏆 TAFE Queensland has been named Educator of the Year at the Australian Photographic Prize 2026!

After finishing as runner-up in previous years, our Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging students have taken out the top honour in 2026.

Graduates Brendan Skinner and Rachel Oliveri were responsible for TAFE Queensland’s five highest-scoring images in the competition, with both students achieving outstanding results.

Brendan also took second place in the Australian Documentary Photographer category – an incredible achievement against photographers from across Australia and around the world.

The Australian Photographic Prize attracted thousands of entries from more than 25 countries, with more than 50 national and international judges assessing the work.

The award highlights the quality, creativity and commitment of TAFE Queensland’s photography students and the strength of the training and learning environment, helping them develop the skills to pursue careers in the creative industries.

🦷 This National Science Week, we’re celebrating the science behind every smile!

Sara started her journey at TAFE Queensland as a dental prosthetics student after moving to Australia, and now she’s back in the lab teaching others.

From creating dentures to working with real patients in our public clinics, Sara’s story shows how hands-on learning and science come together to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Now, as a Clinical Demonstrator, she’s helping our students build the same skills and confidence she once had.

Dr Elankayer Sithirasenan works in a field that never stands still.

With more than 35 years in the Information Technology (IT) industry and a PhD in Network Security, he has watched the sector transform from simple local networks into today’s complex, AI-driven cloud environments.

Now, he's preparing to take his expertise to an international stage as the Cloud Computing Expert for the WorldSkills Australia team that will compete in China in September.
