Competition was hot during bowling and laser tag at our Mackay Connection Day.

Our regional connection days, featured a great mix of friendly competition and discovery, from mini golf in Cairns, outdoor games at the Townsville Rockpool, and science exploration at Toowoomba's Cobb & Co Museum, to tenpin bowling, laser tag, and arcade activities in Mackay, Rockhampton, and Bundaberg.

It was so good to see students catching up, encouraging one another and connecting again after quite a long time apart.

BASEBALL STARS | DE and OC students Porter and Evan represented Brisbane North at last week's Australian Little League Championship. Both spectacular players, Evan finished the competition throwing a no-hitter against Melbourne Athletics , while Porter in his best game struckout 11 in 4 innings.

GO KARTING CHAMPION | Year 8 Student Cruz Smith is using his DE study freedom to win the Victoria State Championships in Go-Karting!

DE DAY CAMP | Our recent DE Camps at Noosa and the Gold Coast were an absolute blast! Despite a little mud, our primary students brought the highest energy and fully embraced the adventure.

From canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding to archery and hiking, the days were packed with laughter and unforgettable moments. It was beautiful to watch new friendships blossom and see students constantly encouraging one another.

We are so grateful to God for this time to grow closer in friendship, community, and faith.

Celebrating a personal achievement, we were sent this:
Siah has continued to remain motivated in her schooling and has been committed growing and joining in on as many chats and online groups as she can, while receiving new diagnoses. Siah had been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in 2024 and joined DE in 2025 to get back into schooling while recovering from her bone marrow transplant and additional stem cell treatments in 2025.

Siah has always been interested in one day pursuing medicine, and even through her medical experience has remained committed to her education, being so much so that she is up to date on her workload more than her parents are!

DE has helped to keep Siah connected in while her health has been so up and down. It has helped Siah feel normal, and in a routine that feels like that of her peers.

BASEBALL | After 4 days of tournaments, Year 7 student Porter's team came 2nd at State Championships and earned themselves a spot at the Australian Little League Championships in Sydney. Porter played really well and pitched an incredible game during one of the deciding games. The team are now training hard for Nationals which will take place on the 3rd - 8th June in Blacktown, Sydney. Go Brisbane North!

We're nearly halfway through the year in DE. As our Middle and Senior students prep for exams keep some of these in mind.

UNDER 8s DAY | Last Friday was a party for our DE Primary students. From arts and crafts, sports, a petting zoo, dance party and more, our P-2 students had a great time celebrating Under 8s Day. Thank you to everyone who came in to be a part of the festivities!
