A little switch of skills. This is 'Christmas Mountain'. I have made the mountain for my littlest Grandie. The mountain is made from expanding foam. Artificial snow has been glued onto the mountain surfaces. The street lights are battery operated and embedded into the mountain, the switch is accessible so that little fingers can turn them on and off (they are getting a workout)
It was a challenge to find a first aid kidney bowl that was blue and just the right size, never give up I say. The kidney bowl became the penguin pond. Many penguins were set in resin and more were left free, you never know where little fingers would like to put them. Just when I thought I was nearing completion a little house arrived in kit form (it only took around 8 hours to colour, glue and assemble it). A Christmas mountain can never be without a tunnel, perrrfect for 4 little vintage cars to race through. The ferris wheel can be wound up at will to see the little people have a ride. I loved seeing the expression on his face when I gave it to him. He has already worked out what is STUCK and what he can move around LOL.

January and February was a very busy creative month. A little bit of Cake Decorating, Sugar Art. A very edible creation. Sugar rats, yes rats LOL. Sugar banana boat, sugar fish and the list goes on. Different mediums of icing were made to create this. sadly the rats didn't catch any fish. A second place in the Royal Canberra Show, and a very nice prize from Latorta Canberra.

Another show done and dusted. A Lady Slipper Orchid. This was entered in the Royal Canberra Show 2025. I won a Reserve Champion. This project was a challenge, the project had a new discovery set of skills. I really enjoyed making the orchid and its pot. All is wet felting. Wool is 18.5 micron merino fibre. It is truly amazing what can be achieved when combining fluffy bits of wool.

'Chilli Pepper' image was selected to appear in International Magazine FELTMATTERS issue 154, March 2024. I am thrilled and delighted. Live on 'Chilli Pepper'

After a 7 or 8 year break from competition Cake Decorating, I felt the need to get the farm into Cake Decorating. Having lots of lovely chooks I thought the kids would enjoy a sugar art chicken LOL ha ha ha of course they would, and so I entered the Royal Canberra Show. The chook was a hoot to make. It only took around 70 to 75 hours to make (one thing i did forget was how long STUFF takes to make) Lots of sugar techniques. The class I entered was Sculptured Cake: Theme 'Cultures of the world' my entry was titled 'Sacred Chicken Pullarius & her chicks'
Do you know anything about sacred chickens? if the answer is no then you need to google Zoroastrians. I will consult my rooster next time I want to create something.
Another entry went into the Felting Section of the Canberra Show. This mesmerising spiral was a huge challenge and thankfully not as time consuming as Pullarius. I was delighted with the result.

Well this was a surprise, i received my magazine from the UK yesterday. I had sent a photo of my Grand Champion exhibit to International Felt Makers Association, members gallery and surprise surprise it ended up in the International Felt Matters magazine 'Felt Matters' Issue 149 December 2022. Feeling very proud and honoured to be besides these amazing artists.
