Eternal English

Wishing all my Eternal English students, past, present & future every blessing for Christmas and the coming year. 🌠

I can't thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to teach you all and; for all you've taught *me* about yourselves, your home countries, your interests, life skills & experiences. 🏞

It's been a wonderful year and I'm so thrilled at the 100% success rate of all my IELTS students, who all got on or above their desired band score! 🌟🏆🌟
Congratulations to you all! 🎉

As we all sign off for the year, I ask only that we please keep our Afghan/Hazara students, their families & friends in our prayers. None need light, hope, peace & joy more than them. 🙏🏼

Wishing you all health & happiness, Julia 💝

Eternal English stands with the Hazaras and other minorities, nationals and internationals within Afghanistan, in calling and praying for peace & freedom.

Paying homage to the beauty of the Afghan landscape. This is a frozen waterfall in the Band-e Amir National Park, captured in the middle of a Bamyan winter. Recent reports from accuse Taliban soldiers of massacring Hazaras in the neighbouring province. My friends have been forced to flee their homeland and are in hiding. People who devoted their lives to working for peace and non-violence are now fearful of being targeted for their views.

She came to me for help with just a week to go before her exam! 🤓 Thankfully, her English was already of a very high standard... However, there was plenty of work to be done: getting familiar with the test format; understanding the 'do-s & don't-s' of the four skill tests; tweaking writing style & content and; of course, knowing what to expect and how to answer questions in the speaking test. 👓
Nothing like a tight timeframe to get both student & teacher focused on what matters!
Congratulations Camille! 🏅You smashed it!

Thinking of all my Afghan students & friends with family & loved ones back in their homeland at this terrifying & distressing time for its people. 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
Holding you all to the light and praying the comfort that only Love can give, to fill your hearts and minds and bring you the peace that defies the reality of the circumstances before you all.

Together, we identified his key areas of need and focused on skills & strategies to improve his language and exam technique in those areas.

And today, he got the result he was looking for!

In his own words, "Thank you so much. It's gonna be a CRAZY weekend!" 🎉😄🎉

Congratulations Lucas! You listened; you applied yourself and; you made it happen! So rewarding to teach & assist you.

It's quite long but this is a great podcast, incorporating themes of work; employment; equal opportunities; indentured labour; economic & social development...

"Seventeen-year-old Ruhani Akhtar doesn't want to work in a garment factory like her mother. But what other opportunities are open to young people in Bangladesh? The country has seen rapid economic growth during the last three decades and she wants to know what her options are. Ruhani talks to another young woman who went to Saudi Arabia as a domestic worker with disastrous results, to a government minister, and she visits a modern new textile factory where work is changing fast."
