Community Kindergartens Need Community Support
Dear Community Member,
Community Kindergartens have been part of Western Australian communities for generations, providing a play-based alternative to school-based kindergarten and creating strong connections between families, educators and local communities.
Supporting these kindergartens is the Community Kindergartens Association (CKA), a volunteer-led organisation that advocates for Community Kindergartens, supports staff and committees, promotes enrolments and helps ensure Community Kindergartens continue to thrive.
The work of the CKA has delivered real outcomes. Most recently, the Association played a key role in advocating for increased grant funding for Community Kindergartens across Western Australia.
However, the future of the Association now depends on new volunteers stepping forward.
Without parents, grandparents and community members becoming involved, the CKA may not be able to continue its work. This would mean the loss of a valuable voice advocating for Community Kindergartens and supporting the sector.
The good news is that helping does not require a large commitment. The Association meets online once per term and offers a range of roles to suit different skills, interests and availability.
You do not need previous committee experience. Attending the AGM is simply an opportunity to learn more about the Association and the ways you might be able to contribute.

Please consider attending and sharing this invitation with others who value community-based early childhood education.
Community Kindergartens have always relied on communities coming together to support them. With your help, the CKA can continue to advocate for, strengthen and promote Community Kindergartens for many years to come.
Kind regards,
Community Kindergartens Association
