Toru Kumon did. It all began in 1954 when Toru Kumon saw his son was fal

ling behind in maths. Toru believed that the work of an educator is to foster a mindset for self-learning in children and so he began creating learning materials for his son, allowing him to work comfortably with the materials each day, steadily developing his skills. The Kumon Method is an individualised learning method. The starting point for each Kumon student is determined individually in order to match the material to the current ability of the child. The Kumon worksheets have been designed in a way that allows students to figure out how to solve problems on their own. If students continue to study at their own pace, they will catch up with their school grade level and eventually advance far beyond it. Through the Kumon Method we aim to foster sound, capable individuals who can succeed in achieving their goals in life.

The secret isn't doing a lot.

It's doing a little... consistently.

Even while enjoying a holiday in Bali, Dream is still completing her Kumon worksheets each day — around 10 to 20 minutes at a time.

That's the beauty of the Kumon Method.

Some days remind you why you started.

Today was one of them. 💙

Beyond the presentations and discussions, the biggest takeaway for me was this:
Children grow best when confidence comes before acceleration.

Strong foundations.
Clear goals.
Patience.
Repetition to mastery.

Sometimes we need to take one step back so a child can move two steps forward.

Grateful for another inspiring KANZ National Instructors Conference and the opportunity to learn alongside fellow instructors who share the same purpose.

Kumon Butler is at the 2026 Kumon Australia and New Zealand National Instructors Conference!

What a day — from registration this morning to the welcome social tonight, today has already been so energising and inspiring.

I show up to these moments because my Kumon Butler students and families deserve an Instructor who never stops learning and growing. Every conversation, every session, every connection here reminds me exactly why I do what I do.

So grateful to be surrounded by passionate Instructors from across Australia and New Zealand. Cannot wait for tomorrow!

Every child is capable of learning.

Sometimes, all they need is the right starting point, the right amount of challenge, and the opportunity to experience success for themselves.

Over the past two weeks, many children in our Free Trial took small steps each day. Some discovered they could do more than they thought. Some gained confidence. Some experienced their own little:
