Geographe Primary School

This week was Primary Education Week, culminating in Primary Principals' Day today. We are so lucky at Geographe Primary School to have three amazing principals who each bring their own passion, strengths and commitment to our school community.

Mrs Alison Freeman has been an Associate Principal at Geographe PS for 13 years and is passionate about developing children who can think critically, creatively and for themselves. She has trained hundreds of teachers across WA to become accredited teachers of Philosophy in Schools and strongly believes that education should never be about producing children who all think, learn or achieve in the same way. She loves this photo because the T-shirt was gifted to her by staff in recognition of one of her favourite sayings: “I am not here to make sausages!” Mrs Freeman is a passionate advocate for an education that celebrates each child's uniqueness, builds on their individual strengths and gives them the confidence, curiosity and skills they need to shape their own future.

Mr Luke Ruane has been an Associate Principal at GPS for five years and is a passionate advocate for student and staff wellbeing. Mr Ruane brings genuine care, compassion and positivity to our school every day. He works tirelessly to ensure that all students, particularly those with additional needs, are supported, included and receiving the education they are entitled to. His commitment to making sure every child feels valued and has the opportunity to succeed is at the heart of everything he does.

Mr Kerimofski is our newest Principal, and while it has only been a year, he has already had such a positive impact on our school. Mr K loves seeing students become better versions of themselves, whether academically, socially or emotionally. He believes that watching students grow in their ability to think, learn and communicate is both a gift and a privilege.

All three of our principals feel incredibly honoured to work alongside the staff, students and families of Geographe Primary School. They are enormously proud of the way our whole school community works together, bringing different strengths, ideas and perspectives, to give every child the very best opportunity to learn, grow and become the person they are capable of being. Term 3 has started with lots of exciting and engaging learning experiences at Geographe Primary School. Our Year 1 students spent Tuesday visiting the local community including a train ride along the jetty to the underwater observatory. Thanks to all our year one staff for organising such a wonderful experience for our students. Our lucky year four students are also participating in the Koomal garden program where they will plant and harvest seasonal produce which will be used by our canteen to provide nutritional foods, grown by our students. Thanks to Mrs Emma Walker who will be running the program.

What a wonderful way to finish Term 2. Our Year 1's in Mrs Archer and Ms Grey's class did a wonderful item reminding us that we are all people, some big and some small, sharing a world big enough for us all. Congratulations also to Tayla for winning the prestigious Aussie of the Month and to Mrs Packman who is retiring after 40 years of incredible teaching service. She will be missed.

National Simultaneous Storytime is happening right now! Mr K is reading "Luna Roo" to all our captivated students. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful events at Geographe Primary School. Yesterday was Biodervisty Day. Thanks to all the students who dressed in the colours of green, yellow, blue and/ or brown. All money raised is going to Geo Bay Wildlife Rescue. And don't forget next Tuesday is the school Reconciliation Walk, parents and caregivers will find more details through Class Compass communications.

Yesterday was the 2026 Staff vs Students Basketball game and what a game it was. The students did a fantastic job with a very disadvantaged height comp. Unfortunately, none of the paparazzi managed to get Mr Humble's three pointer from the middle of the court or his slam dunk, but it really did happen!!
