Deakin Law School is pleased to announce that the new Centre for Law as Protection will be officially launched this Friday August 9th at Deakin Downtown.
Led by co-directors Professor Shiri Krebs and Professor Patrick Emerton, the Centre for Law as Protection is building a scholarly community to study the idea of protection, shape policy and develop legal tools to protect people, animals and the environment.
The Centre's research is organised across four thematic streams. Each stream addresses the scope and meaning of protection from a significant cluster of existing threats and develops concrete legal tools tailored to these threats. Together, the four research streams build a conceptual and practical infrastructure of law as a crucial means of protection. Additionally, all four research streams are connected through the cross-theme lead for animal and environmental protection.
