NEW WOMEN’S HEAD COACH - JULIA HAY

To the players, coaches, sponsors and supporters of the Club.

The Blackburn Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Jules Hay as the new coach of our Premier Division Women’s team.

As part of her appointment we have expanded the role to be similar to that of our men’s program. Jules will also be our Head Women’s Coach, taking responsibility for the development of all three women’s teams and the pathways between our girls’ and women’s program.

Jules will be a fantastic addition to the Club’s women’s program. Her educational background, football experience and passion make her the ideal person to take on this new role.

Jules brings extensive experience to the Club, she has coached for a number of years, most recently as an Assistant Coach with Williamstown’s VFLW team.

Prior to this, she assisted Collingwood’s VFL team and was a representative coach as well as a junior coach.

Jules started her professional life as a teacher, before working in the tertiary education sector.

She is currently undertaking a PhD, identifying best practice environments where the careers of sportswomen and coaches can flourish.

Jules is a prolific writer and regularly appears in the media, speaking on a range of topics related to women in sport.

It doesn’t stop there: Jules is also a co-founder and Director of the Women's Coaching Association which seeks to encourage and empower women to coach sport. They do that by providing support, network opportunities, education and a voice for women who coach.

Jules is no stranger to Blackburn: she captained our Masters’ team in 2021.

The Club is blessed to have someone of such high calibre in its ranks and was delighted when Jules expressed an interest in the role.

With proven experience in creating inclusive environments, she is the ideal person to lead our women’s program in 2022.

In further news, the Club can also confirm the reappointment of David Ramsdale and Andrew Buckland as the coaches of our Division 3 and Masters teams in 2022.

The Club is keen to extend its female coaching panel and has set aside at least one assistant coaching position in each of its three women’s teams for a female coach.

Anyone wishing to take their coaching further and be mentored by some of the best in the business are asked to contact the club.

Kind regards,
Casey Johnson
President
