After surviving life-threatening illness as a child, Anna Dang was inspired by the doctors who cared for her to pursue a career in medicine.

Now in her second year of a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Deakin, Anna is working towards her dream of becoming a paediatric cardiologist.

As a legally blind student, Anna has been supported through accessible technology, innovative teaching approaches and a community committed to finding solutions, helping ensure she can thrive in her studies.

Anna hopes her story encourages more students with disability to pursue science, and inspires educators to continue creating learning environments where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Education Today Growing up, I spent a lot of time in hospitals and was given a one per cent chance at survival at one point. I was cared for by extraordinary doctors and healthcare professionals who not only helped me survive, but helped me live a healthy and happy life.

A promise delivered - Deakin’s GIFT City India celebrates first graduates Deakin University has marked a historic milestone this week, celebrating the first graduates from its GIFT City Campus at a ceremony in Gujarat, India.

Congratulations to the Deakin Rover Team! 🎉

The team recently competed in the Australian Rover Challenge (ARCh) 2026 in Adelaide, finishing an impressive 13th out of 30 teams and taking home the 'Best Team Culture' award.

Leading up to the competition, it was all hands on deck. Late nights, last-minute fixes, and intense problem-solving to get their rover 'Borealis' ready in time.

In just their second year, this result is a testament to the team’s innovation, teamwork and dedication.

We’re proud to see our students representing Deakin on a national stage, and can’t wait to see what they achieve next.
