What is scaffolding in children's play? Scaffolding can appear in many ways, from educator's making the intentional decision to include resources or provocations in the environments, to 'peer scaffolding' which can appear when children are grouped for play, and through modeling, conversations, and questioning.

Scaffolding isn't limited to children either! In fact, the EYLF "provides a scaffold to assist educators to develop their own, more detailed curriculum relevant to their setting and the children and families attending." (EYLF V2.0, pg 67)

We enjoyed a wonderful day at the beach/park. Chasing bubbles, flying planes, creating a magnificent sand village, writing names in the sand & a very energetic water fight🤩 Thank you beautiful kiddos for such a fun day! 🥰

We explored some dino, stomping fun at Annie’s today🦕🦖🦕
The children collected rocks from our garden to place around the edge of the dinosaur’s lake.
They squished & mixed the kinetic sand & pressed it down to stamp prints in it with an array of resources they had gathered.
Colours, weights, textures, cause & effect & problem solving. So much fun & learning in such a simple activity 🤩

I came across this post and it really resonated with me. Too often, we push kids to do things they’re not ready for. Play is their work, and I feel like they don’t get enough time to just be kids these days.
