Creating habitat for Burnie’s little penguins has been a true community effort. 💙🐧💚 We're proud to have partnered with Friends of Burnie Penguins and others to transform a former car park at West Park into expanded penguin habitat, complete with new tunnels connecting the colony to the foreshore. Here's to Burnie's penguins and the community that cares for them. 🌿

🦴Tasmania has some of the longest joint replacement wait times in the country, and one of the highest rates of opioid prescribing for pain. But surgery and painkillers aren’t the only path forward for people with osteoarthritis.

Join us at the Menzies Research Roadshow and hear from Associate Professor Dawn Aitken about her work to improve osteoarthritis care across Tasmania.

Dawn founded the IMPACT-TAS project to increase access to physiotherapy and digital healthcare for Tasmanians living with osteoarthritis.

In her talk, Dawn will explore:
✅ Why exercise is one of the most underused first-line treatments for osteoarthritis
✅ How physiotherapy programs could ease pressure on our overstretched health system
✅ Practical ways to stay active and pain-free for longer

Dawn is one of three speakers featured at this event, all sharing research to improve the health of Tasmanians.

🚧 Temporary impacts at West Park
On Friday, 24 July (7.30am-12pm), a truck and crane will be operating in the eastern section of the West Park car park conducting essential maintenance works.
During this time there will be temporary impacts in place for community safety:
- Parking spaces closest to the campus building will be unavailable
- A section of the railway path will be closed with a detour to the Coastal Pathway in place
- Some paths around the campus building will have restricted access
