🏠 More students living, studying and building their future in Burnie!

The former Wellers Inn is being transformed into dedicated accommodation for around 25 health students from Semester 1 next year, backed by $2.2 million from the Federal Government Anne Urquhart MP.

For students like fifth-year medical student Ty Cunningham, it means fewer housing barriers and the chance to study closer to family.

More students calling Burnie home means more young people in our city, more vibrancy and hopefully more graduates choosing to build their careers right here on the North-West Coast.

🩺Earlier this year, fourth year RCS student, Ilar was awarded the Rotary Club of Burnie Scholarship in Rural Medicine for 2026/27, recognising his dedication to a future career in rural medicine and supporting his ongoing studies.

⭐️Thank you to the Rotary Club of Burnie for their ongoing support of our medical students and their investment in the future rural health workforce.

What a wonderful night of fellowship, connection and inspiration at the Rotary Club of Burnie! 💙💛

It was fantastic to welcome our wonderful guests and members and enjoy an evening filled with great conversation, friendship and the opportunity to hear about the difference Rotary is making in our community.

A special highlight of the evening was welcoming Ilar Flynn, our Medical Student Scholarship recipient, who shared a wonderful presentation about his journey to study medicine in Burnie. 👨‍⚕️

It was inspiring to hear about Ilar’s experiences, achievements and aspirations, and to see the impact that supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals can have right here in our region.

We are incredibly proud to support Ilar on his journey and wish him every success as he continues his medical studies.

This is what Rotary is all about — people coming together, supporting one another and creating lasting impact. 💙💛

Thank you to all our guests and members who helped make it such a wonderful evening. Together, we are People of Action! 🤝

Our Year 2 medical students, Ella and Maisie, had a great time at the Wynyard High School Tasmania Science Fair & Careers Expo this afternoon! This event offered plenty of hands-on STEM activities, interactive exhibits and the chance to meet industry professionals. It was a great opportunity for students to explore, learn and be inspired about future career possibilities.

Thank you to Wynyard High School for hosting this event and to our medical students for being wonderful ambassadors. 🩺🔬💡🌟
