Sweet little boy, Peanut. Was rescued this morning by a lovely member of the public, who kept him in a pillowcase in her shirt for the day and very much saved his life. Pinky joey's (as we call the unfurred ones) are unable to regulate their body temperature so keeping them against your body until a carer can take them in is a wonderful way to keep them well.

Peanut is a Tasmanian Pademelon Joey.

Our little overnight guest, Jesse. Jesse is a Forester Kangaroo joey whose mother was unfortunately hit by a car. Jesse will be transported to his permanent carer later today by a lovely volunteer, where he has a little buddy waiting for him. 💕🦘

Dear Friends,

Unfortunately we have had to place our wombats with other carers (this was a long contemplated and difficult decision for us). We decided this was the only way forward due to an unfortunate injury I sustained and the continued affect it has had on my capacity to care for the heavier animals in our care. Nik and Tempe went to a beautiful carer friend of ours who was actually Tempe's original rescuer. More recently, Seeley has had to be placed with another dear friend of ours who we trust very much (we will also be able to visit him where he is).

Again, this was an incredibly difficult decision but with the nature of my injury and the potential I may require surgery, it felt out of our hands. We will not be taking on any permanent care wombats for the remainder of this season and will be focusing on small species.

Please keep following along as this is not the end of our journey, it's just a curve in the road.

Our beefy boy, Niklaus is absolutely thriving! Here he is loving his lunchtime bottle.

I'm finally starting to stabilise pain wise (bulged disc pressing on spinal cord). It's been about 7 weeks now in constant pain with an unusuable arm. But finally FINALLY I'm able to hold my boy again 💕 might look like a simple feed but this is a huge success for me after such a rough couple of months.
