Komorebi Coaching

Komorebi Coaching 木漏れ日 (Komorebi) is 'sunlight filtering through the trees' - ESCAPING is a better translation. I can come to you for an additional fee, between Miami and Tugun.

Just as the sunlight escapes, rediscover your inner light and awesome-ness as you become a more confident and resilient learner. I am committed to helping students not just reach their potential, but surpass their potential by igniting curiosity, cultivating a love of learning and developing ‘lifelong learners’. I am dedicated to helping and supporting students who are finding study challenging (e

ven failing) and working with them to improve self-confidence and study habits –working towards feeling more confident with study and ultimately passing. As a teacher of more than 25 years, I have seen many students try their best and still fail a particular subject – yet be highly successful in their post-school vocations. Sometimes it is more about knowing that you have tried your best, learned some valuable information and shown improvement more than the grade written on a report card. ‘Failing upwards’ is about viewing failures as learning opportunities and chances for improvement. My goal is for students to feel supported and be confident learners – knowing that I ‘have their back’. If I sound like someone you would like to share in the learning of your child, please call or message me with any questions and for availability. I am available to teach online (through Zoom) as well as face-to-face, I live in Burleigh Waters. I look forward to sharing in your learning journey.

Happy New Year for 2026!
Traditionally, the Year of the Horse is seen as a lucky and dynamic year, connected with vitality, independence, and progress. It’s often associated with success through effort, optimism, and the courage to move ahead - reminding us that good fortune comes to those who keep going 🐴😁🙌
Thank you for all of your support and encouragement in 2025, and wishing everyone a wonderful 2026 filled with much joy and many blessings 🌻🌺🌸

こんにちは〜 There are so many reasons I love Japan, one of them is the food, and especially traditional dishes and sweets. When I watched Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman on Netflix, I realised one of the cafes was semi near where we were staying - and it did not disappoint! I can’t wait to try all of the dishes on the menu! 😍

こんにちは〜 I’ve been learning Japanese for over 40 years - the joy of learning something new has not diminished 😁
Our second morning in Karuizawa was not only cold, but there had been rain during the night, so the 1 degree temperature had made invisible ice on the roads and footpaths. It was chaos with tourists accidentally skating and bouncing around everywhere! A lovely local lady told me that they do ウロンちゃん歩き (Uron-chan walking).
Do you remember Astro Boy? Uron-chan is his sister, who walks on her toes like a dancer, so she taught me how to walk like her and stay upright! Phew! Has anyone else ever heard of ウロンちゃん歩き?

こんにちは~
I was helping a student the other day with adjectives, and went straight into い-adjectives explanation, when they quietly asked; "What is an い-adjective again?", and I realised that although we know what they are, once students get overloaded with information, it is hard for them to remember what things are, what goes with what, and how to connect it all.
い-adjectives and な-adjectives are essential building blocks in Japanese, so to say something is delicious, quiet, beautiful, or dangerous, it is essential to know which type of adjective to use.
These learning mats are designed to introduce 8 adjectives for each group, then use them with a noun, finally in a question - which is an opportunity for some listening and speaking practice too. Once students have created a question to ask back, it is truly a time to celebrate!
