Great article about the skills vse knowledge debate.
I would add to this that "these kinds of vague statements actively prevent teachers designing activities that will help students learn" by forcing us to combine far too many required knowledge sets that would take much longer than the length of the assessment tasks to build in any meaningful way, therefore setting students and teachers up to fail.

I finally did it - then forgot to post it here!! I got my first book published in the first 3 weeks of summer holiday. I'm pretty happy with myself, I gotta say!
I wrote something I hope will be an incredibly useful resource for you on a daily basis - a comprehensive scope and sequence with 230 differentiated words lists to use for your spelling and reading teaching.
