For Sarah Bollard, teaching baking is a full-circle moment.

After starting her own training journey at TAFE Queensland and building a successful career as a chef, pastry chef and business owner, Sarah is now helping the next generation of bakers develop their skills and confidence.

"My career path was because of TAFE. And if I can just do a little bit for my students, the way that the educators did for me when I was at TAFE, then that's more than enough, I think."

From fresh bread to cinnamon buns, Sarah is passing on her passion for baking one student at a time.

Ask R U OK? Any Day, because life happens every day. 💛

A lot can happen in a year, a month, a week. Whether it’s your friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about go through life’s ups and downs every day.

By having regular, meaningful conversations, you build trust and normalise talking about what’s really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you’re someone they can talk to.

What started with a simple question, "Hey, can you teach me how to weld?" has led Georgia to a rewarding boilermaking apprenticeship and a creative side business. 🔥

Georgia credits her husband for helping her develop her skills and passion for the trade, while her love of welding has inspired her to launch Arc Angel Artistry transforming scrap metal into unique sculptures.

"I just saw a piece of scrap metal and I thought, 'Hey, I can turn that into a fish,'" she said.

From the workshop to works of art, Georgia is proving there's more than one way to shape a future in manufacturing.

Read Georgia's story 👇

For Georgia Singh, a second-year apprentice boilermaker, a piece of scrap metal is never just scrap metal. Where others see waste, she sees possibility.

National appeal: we need you 🚨

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood issued an urgent appeal for 12,000 additional donors with O and A blood types, as the winter flu season led to a sharp drop in donations and critically low blood supplies.

If you’re feeling well and able to donate, Lifeblood is asking for community support over the coming days to help rebuild these essential supplies. Every donation makes a meaningful difference, especially right now.

Thanks again for being part of this incredible movement. Let’s keep the momentum rolling and make this year our strongest yet.

🦷 This National Science Week, we’re celebrating the science behind every smile!

Sara started her journey at TAFE Queensland as a dental prosthetics student after moving to Australia, and now she’s back in the lab teaching others.

From creating dentures to working with real patients in our public clinics, Sara’s story shows how hands-on learning and science come together to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Now, as a Clinical Demonstrator, she’s helping our students build the same skills and confidence she once had.

Science isn’t just in textbooks – it’s in every smile our students help create.
