Our Year 4 students have been exploring the history and culture of the local Taribelang Bunda people as part of their History studies this year. To celebrate the culmination of this unit, they participated in a half-day Taribelang Bunda Cultural Immersion experience.
Led by Bec, students were privileged to learn about the rich history and enduring culture of the Taribelang Bunda people, who have cared for Country for more than 60,000 years. Throughout the experience, they discovered the significance of traditional artefacts, including boomerangs and bora rings, and how they were used in daily life and cultural practices.
Students also developed a deeper connection to Country as they visited places of cultural significance, including the mighty Burnett River, The Hummock, Mon Repos, Round Scrub, Bundaberg Creek and Baldwin Swamp.
It was a meaningful and engaging learning experience that brought classroom learning to life while fostering a deeper appreciation and respect for the history, culture and traditions of the Taribelang Bunda people.

🦈🐢 What an unforgettable adventure! 🌊✨
With a 6.00 am start and plenty of excitement on the bus, our Year 3 students set off for an incredible day at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.
From the playful Seal Presentation and fearsome sharks to luminous sea jellies, graceful manta and eagle rays, delicate leafy sea dragons, a giant groper, adorable fairy penguins, spectacular coral and intricate sea stars, there was something to discover around every corner. Students also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre and explored the shark tunnel from above.
Throughout the day, students made meaningful connections to their Science learning as they explored living things, life cycles, habitats and adaptations. They also discovered the important role we all play in protecting our precious marine environments.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers and dedicated staff whose time, care and enthusiasm made this memorable learning experience possible. Your support is truly appreciated.
💙 We'd love to know... what was your favourite part of the day? Was it the Seal Presentation, walking through the shark tunnel, visiting the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, meeting a favourite sea creature or learning something new about our oceans?

Last weekend, our Junior and Senior Competition Dance Troupes competed in their second competition of the year at Dance X, held at Shalom College. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to continue building their confidence, strengthening their teamwork, and showcasing the growth they have made since their first competition.
We are incredibly proud of the way our dancers represented our school, demonstrating the 6Rs through their respect, resilience, responsibility and encouragement of one another. Their positive attitudes and strong team spirit were just as impressive as their performances on stage.
A sincere thank you to our families for their ongoing support and to the staff who generously gave their time to assist on the day. Congratulations to all of our dancers on their outstanding efforts and for representing our school with pride.
Congratulations to our Junior and Senior Competition Dance Troupes on their outstanding achievements at Dance X!

🚒🔥 Today our Year 1 students at St John’s Lutheran Primary School took part in a special Fire Education (Fire Ed) Program presented by members of the Queensland Fire Department.
Designed specifically for Year 1 students, the interactive program helped our students develop important fire safety knowledge in a fun and engaging way. Students learnt about:
🚒 The difference between good and bad fires
💨 The dangers of smoke
📞 How and when to call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency
🧑🚒 The role of firefighters and emergency services
🔥 Staying safe around fire
🏠 The importance of having a home and school escape plan
The visit began with an informative classroom presentation before students had the exciting opportunity to explore a real fire truck and watch a firefighter-led demonstration.
A big thank you to the Queensland Fire Department for visiting St John’s and providing such a valuable and memorable learning experience. Our students not only gained essential fire safety skills but also developed a greater appreciation for the important role our local emergency services play in keeping our community safe. 🚒❤️
