✨Introducing Bundaberg Group 5: Maya, Kurt & Aishling! ✨

Aishling, Kurt, and Maya are working on the student kitchenette and eating spaces at Central Queensland University (CQU) Bundaberg. They aim to create inclusive and accessible kitchenettes and eating spaces for all students, in collaboration with CQU stakeholders. Understanding the role of shared spaces in fostering accessibility, wellbeing and connection, the team is working collaboratively with a broad range of CQU stakeholders to ensure the recommendations reflect the diverse needs of the student community.

✨Introducing Bundaberg Group 3: Keely, Rebekah, Mackenzie & Jyett! ✨

The Learning Lab: OT Student Resources for Neurological Rehabilitation.
Keely, Rebekah, Mackenzie & Jyett have been busy developing instructional video resources to support occupational therapy students learning neurological rehabilitation skills. These short, evidence-based videos cover manual muscle testing, somatosensory assessments, and range of motion measurement, helping students feel more confident during intensives and clinical placement.

The Learning Lab team are proud to share that these resources are designed to be accessible for all OT students, including those studying via distance, and will continue to support future cohorts.

Introducing Bundaberg Group 6: Aimee, Sarina, Breeanna, and Monique! ✨

Meet the Be Positive Team! As part of one of Bundaberg’s community project groups, we’re excited to trial CQU’s Be Positive program with a community audience.
The program is grounded in positive psychology and is designed to equip people with practical tools to reframe thinking, overcome challenges, and approach life with a more proactive and positive mindset.
Our goal: Gather feedback from the community to help us adapt the program beyond university settings, making it relevant, meaningful, and accessible for everyone. Thank you for supporting our mission to create a stronger, more positive community!

Introducing Rockhampton Group 2: Lyndon, Taryn & Lisa! ✨

Lyndon, Taryn & Lisa are collaborating with the Rockhampton base hospital to develop a streamlined, accessible, and low-cost equipment tracking system for the rehabilitation ward to improve the efficiency and reliability of occupational therapy services. By enhancing time management and resource allocation, the system will support timely access to equipment, reduce unplanned downtime, and improve equipment maintenance, thereby increasing reliability and longevity. The initiative also seeks to provide clear itemisation of the department’s equipment inventory to strengthen audit processes, stock awareness, and tracking. Collectively, the system improvements aim to support more effective service delivery, provide justification for future equipment purchases, and ultimately enhance occupational therapy services for patients.

Introducing Rockhampton Group 5: Cedar, Jewel, Laura and Megan! ✨

The CQUniversity Gym Project focuses on improving accessibility for older adults (65+) and people with disabilities. The project identifies environmental barriers, promotes safe exercise participation, and delivers an accessibility report with recommendations for future improvements. These outcomes aim to create a more inclusive environment, strengthen CQUniversity’s community standing, and support funding opportunities.

Introducing Bundaberg Group 1: Jacob, Amanda, Kelly & Meegan! ✨

Jacob, Amanda, Kelly & Meegan are working in partnership with the Bundaberg Hospital to investigate the feasibility of establishing a small unit for the management of people with moderate to severe behavioural and psychological behaviours of dementia (BPSD). This will include recommendations for the physical environment and staffing composition using evidence-based findings to increase staff and patient safety, and decrease potential triggers of behaviours in the BPSD population.
