MATH STRAVAGANZA!
Our Year 1 students celebrated a special milestone last week โ 120 days of learning โ with a spectacular Math Stravaganza!
Our young mathematicians came dressed as their favourite maths idea, character or object, and spent the day engaging in hands-on activities, including games, investigations and creative challenges. They explored important mathematical concepts while building their confidence, sharpening their problem-solving skills and growing their love of mathematics.
It was a wonderful day of dynamic learning and the perfect way to celebrate everything our Year 1 students have achieved so far this year.

STEP RIGHT UP!
This term, our Preppies have been learning to tumble, spin and twirl in preparation for the greatest show on Earth โ the Preppie Circus!
With popcorn in hand, families settled into their seats as crazy clowns, masterful magicians, super strongmen and agile acrobats took to the stage for an extravaganza of colour and fun. Our Preppies worked so hard to perfect their performances, and it showed. Well done, Preppies, for putting on a fantastic show!

2026 ROCK POP MIME.
What better way to end our Community Fair than with our annual Rock Pop Mime event! With House pride on the line, our Middle and Senior students brought plenty of colour, creativity and energy to the stage as they embraced this year's theme of 'Ubuntu'.
Congratulations to everyone who participated โ the camaraderie and team spirit on display were exceptional. But in the end, there could be only one winner. Despite a confident Hoog House hoping to secure their third win in a row, it was Noble House who ultimately reigned supreme.
Well done, Noble, and thank you to the families and friends who came out to support our students!

PRINCIPAL'S REFLECTION - 21 AUGUST 2026
On Monday 10 August, the School held a ParentConnect session to gather feedback from parents and carers on two important and rapidly changing issues: media consent, including the use of images of students, and artificial intelligence. Thank you to everyone who attended. Your thoughts and ideas play an essential role in providing the School with feedback for consideration as we navigate these emerging issues. For the benefit of all families, I want to share a brief summary of takeaways from the session.
In regard to media consent, the parent body is reasonably divided. Everyone understands the need to protect children from harm, and some parents would prefer a complete ban on the public publishing of recognisable images of students. However, other parents absolutely want to see their children promoted by the School in a public manner. At the ParentConnect session, we discussed issues with approaches at either end of this spectrum, and everywhere in between.

BUNDABERG DISTRICT PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORT ATHLETICS CARNIVAL.
St Lukeโs had the honour of once again hosting the BDPSS Athletics Carnival, welcoming the best young athletes from Primary schools across the region. Held over two days, this competition saw our Primary Athletics Team run, jump, and throw their way to outstanding results, including five 3rd-place finishes, three 2nd-place finishes, and four 1st-place finishes. Our team was also crowned the overall A Schools Trophy winners for ball games.
But more important than ribbons and trophies were the smiles and words of encouragement shared between athletes. We commend all students for the determination and resilience they showed throughout the carnival. Congratulations, team!
It takes tremendous behind-the-scenes coordination to ensure a great event for our local athletes, and we are very grateful to everyone who assisted. We would especially like to thank our volunteers for their tireless work in ensuring competitors and spectators remained well fed and hydrated over the two days!
