๐Ÿ’› Daffodil Day 2026 ๐Ÿ’›

Today our centre came together to show our support for Daffodil Day, a day that raises awareness and supports people impacted by cancer.

To recognise this special day, our educators and children added a touch of yellow to their outfits. ๐ŸŒผ Throughout the day, the children also had the opportunity to participate in a range of yellow-themed experiences and activities within their room spaces.

It was a lovely way for our centre community to come together, show our support and bring a little extra yellow into our day. ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŒผ

๐Ÿ‚Nature, Art & Connection to Country๐Ÿ‚

Last week, the children in our nursery connected with nature through a collaborative art experience, using giant leaves as paintbrushes. As they explored the different textures and patterns the leaves created, they worked together to create an artwork inspired by the colours of the Aboriginal Flag as apart of ongoing learning about Aboriginal culture and Country.

To extend the experience, the painted leaves were reused and transformed into a wreath, which will become part nursery Acknowledgement of Country display. Created on a backing made from recycled laminated materials and finished with feathers, the wreath reflects our commitment to sustainability.

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ NAIDOC Week Celebrations ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค

Our children have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating NAIDOC Week through a variety of meaningful and engaging experiences that recognised and celebrated the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ๐ŸŒฟ

Throughout the week, the children participated in a range of hands-on activities, including a special visit from Wakka Boy, who shared stories and cultural knowledge, as well as a fun paint-and-sip experience inspired by Indigenous art. ๐ŸŽจ
The children also learned about the meaning of different Aboriginal symbols and explored how they are used to tell stories and represent people, places, and journeys. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐ŸŒ€

Our younger children embraced their creativity by painting Australian animals using natural resources collected from our outdoor environment, encouraging a connection with nature while exploring Indigenous perspectives๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒฟ

Along with these experiences, the children created many other special artworks and meaningful creations throughout the week, reflecting their learning, creativity, and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธโค๏ธ

It has been wonderful to see the children's curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm as they learned through play, creativity, and shared experiences. We are so proud of the way our children embraced the spirit of NAIDOC Week and celebrated the world's oldest continuing cultures. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’›
