St. Mary's Catholic Primary School

Today, our Year 6A students attended the Anointing Mass and represented our school with great respect, reverence and faith. They participated beautifully throughout the celebration and demonstrated outstanding behaviour at all times.

Following the Mass, students generously assisted in serving tea, coffee and refreshments to parishioners. Through their willingness to help others, they truly followed in Jesus’ footsteps of service. Their actions also reflected the values and example of our founders, Catherine McAuley, Nano Nagle and Fr Tim Murphy.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 6A students for the kindness, compassion and leadership they displayed today. They were wonderful ambassadors for our school community.

🏉 Steve Renouf Cup – Wide Bay Final Winners! 🏉

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School is thrilled to announce that we are the 2026 Steve Renouf Cup Wide Bay Champions! 🎉

A huge congratulations to our talented team for their outstanding effort and teamwork throughout the competition. Special congratulations to Louie H, who was named Man of the Match for his exceptional performance.

The team will now progress to the Central Queensland Final of the Primary Schools Rugby League Competition, where they will take on Farnborough State School in Yeppoon.

We are incredibly proud of our players and wish them the very best as they continue their journey. Go St Mary’s! 🏉

♟️ Wide Bay North Zone Interschool Gardiner Chess Competition ♟️

Yesterday, four students from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School represented our school at the Wide Bay North Zone Interschool Gardiner Chess Competition held at Shalom.

The boys played exceptionally well throughout the day, demonstrating great determination, strategic thinking and sportsmanship. Their efforts earned the team an outstanding 3rd place overall in the Primary B Division.

A special congratulations goes to Lochlan W, who achieved 2nd place overall in the individual competition.

We are incredibly proud of the skill, perseverance and dedication our students displayed. Well done, boys!

What a fantastic way to start Book Week! 📖☀️

To kick off our Book Week celebrations, we enjoyed a wonderful Reading in the Shade. It was lovely to see so many families join us to relax, share a book and enjoy reading together.

🏉 Steve Renouf Cup – Wide Bay Final! 🏉

We are incredibly excited for our Challenge Cup team as they take the next step in their Steve Renouf Cup journey!

On Wednesday, 26 August, our team will take on Kawungan State School in the Wide Bay Final of the school knockout competition. The winner will progress to the Central Queensland Grand Final in Yeppoon, where they will face Farnborough State School.

Day Two done and dusted! Another fantastic day with the students, taking on new experiences and doing things they’ve never done before. They certainly enjoyed themselves, challenged themselves and pushed right to their limits. What an amazing couple of days it has been so far!

📚✨ Book Week is nearly here! ✨📚

We are so excited to be celebrating Book Week next week and have some wonderful opportunities for our school community to come together and share in the joy of reading.

📖 Share a book in the Shade
On Monday at 2:15pm, we will gather as a whole school community to enjoy a book together in the shade. This will follow our school assembly, which has been moved to 1:45pm. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy this special reading time together.

👗📚 Book Week Costume Parade
On Friday at 9:00am, we will hold our annual Book Week Costume Parade. This is always a fun and exciting event and we can't wait to see the wonderful book character costumes our students create!

All families are warmly welcome to attend. Please bring your own chair.

🧋 Bubble Lemonade Fundraiser
At first break on Friday, students will also have the opportunity to purchase a Bubble Lemonade for $2 to help support Bridget Doyle as she prepares for her mission with NET Ministries Australia next year.
