๐Ÿš‘ Ambulance Visit at Kindy! ๐Ÿš‘

Today we were very lucky to welcome the Queensland Ambulance Service to kindy for a very special visit! A big thank you to Archerโ€™s mum, Tarnya, and Alexisโ€™ stepdad, Jesse, for taking the time to share their important role as paramedics with us.

The children were so engaged as they explored the ambulance and learnt all about the equipment paramedics use to help people in emergencies. They had a turn practicing bandaging, using the monitor with sticky dots, trying the oximeter on their fingers, and watching the blood pressure cuff in action. This sparked lots of curiosity about how our bodies work and how paramedics check to make sure we are okay.

We also learnt about splints for broken bones, neck braces for keeping us safe after injuries, and the protective equipment paramedics wear. One of the highlights was having a turn on the stair chair and stretcher, riding up and down just like real patients!

The children loved climbing inside the ambulance, exploring all the different compartments, and of course hearing the sirens and seeing the flashing lights! ๐Ÿšจ

We also had important conversations about emergencies, learning that 000 is the number to call and how to ask for an ambulance if someone needs help.

This was such a valuable hands-on experience, helping the children build their understanding of community helpers, health, safety, and wellbeing, while growing their confidence and curiosity.

Thank you again to Tarnya and Jesse for sharing your time, knowledge, and the amazing work you do in our community! โค๏ธ

๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Police Visit in the Zebra Room! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿš”

This week our Letter of the Week was P, and what better way to explore it than by learning all about Police Officers!

The children's interest in community helpers inspired us to transform our dramatic play area into a police station, complete with uniforms, badges, radios and plenty of opportunities for imaginative play. Throughout the week, the children took on the role of police officers, working together to keep our community safe, solve problems and help others.

To extend this interest, we were very excited to welcome Constable Britt to our kindergarten! The children loved meeting a real police officer and were even more thrilled when she arrived in a real police car.

Constable Britt taught us about:
๐Ÿš“ The important role police officers play in our community
๐Ÿ“ž When and how to call 000 in an emergency
๐Ÿฆบ The equipment police officers use, including a real police vest and handcuffs
๐Ÿšฆ Road safety, including holding an adult's hand when crossing roads and wearing seatbelts and helmets
๐Ÿšจ How police cars help keep our community safe

The highlight of the visit was definitely sitting in the police car, hearing the sirens and seeing the flashing lights up close!

The children were engaged from beginning to end, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their own experiences. By following the children's interests and providing real-life experiences, we are helping them build an understanding of the world around them while developing confidence, communication skills and knowledge about staying safe.

A huge thank you to Constable Britt for taking the time to visit us and create such a memorable learning experience for our Zebra children! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš”
