𝗕𝗙𝗦 𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 "𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬 𝗡𝗢𝗪?"
Meet Kenzi, who completed her CPL and MEIR with BFS in 2022 and is now a First officer on the Dash 8 with Maroomba Airlines.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴?
I originally spent about three years hairdressing, but it just wasn’t the right path for me. My dad was a pilot his whole life and suggested I try a TIF. After that very first lesson I was completely hooked. Something just clicked, and from that moment on I didn’t really consider doing anything else.
I love that no two days are the same. You’re constantly learning, constantly challenged, and you get to see parts of the world that most people never will.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁?
I chose BFS for their Instructors, Accommodation and student loan options but what really stood out for me when I start was the school environment.
Training down south is hard to beat with stunning scenery, supportive and approachable instructors, well-structured training that integrates theory with real flying, which keeps things exciting and helps everything click a bit faster.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴?
I’m currently a First Officer on the Dash 8 with Maroomba Airlines, and I’ve been here for two years now.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?
Don’t be afraid to head North into General Aviation. It was one of the best decisions I made early in my career. You’ll learn a lot, build experience quickly, and have some pretty great stories along the way.
Say yes to opportunities, put yourself out there, and talk to people. Aviation is a small world, and networking genuinely opens doors.
