SWCC has a campus in Bunbury and Busselton, WA. A new school in Bunbury and a new kind of school. This new school will also be a new kind of school.

Established in 2018, SWCC is a Year 10-12 Curriculum and Reengagement in Education (CARE) school which offers an alternative to mainstream schooling using Big Picture Education. BRCC will open its doors in 2018 for students in years 10 and 11 and will expand to year 12 in 2019. It will be small with a maximum of 30 students in 2017 and growing to around 90 students over the next few years. The sch

We are so proud of our Year 12 Bunbury student, Sienna, for her recent award as Volunteer South West Young Volunteer of the Year 2026!!!! Sienna has had a passion for horses for some time and last year, she started volunteering with Riding For The Disabled Association Australia South West Centre as a Leaving to Learn opportunity. A form of physical therapy for riders with disabilities, Sienna said the volunteering at RDA was a massive eye-opening opportunity which she absolutely loved! When volunteering, Sienna helped with leading each session and during Hippotherapy, she sidewalked.

Congratulations Sienna on this wonderful achievement!

As we wrap up National Reconciliation Week, we’d like to reflect on a great morning at the Goomburrup NRW Breakfast which was held last week at the Mantra Lighthouse Hotel.

This year’s NRW theme, All In, highlighted the importance of everyone playing a role in reconciliation through connection, understanding, respect, and action.

Our two invited students, Alby and Robert, represented South West Community College exceptionally well throughout the morning, showing maturity, respect, and confidence while engaging with guests and participating in the event. Both students embraced the opportunity to be part of an important community event and represented the school proudly.

The breakfast was delicious, but the real highlight was hearing the fantastic speakers both here in Goomburrup and from the live-streamed Reconciliation WA Breakfast in Boorloo (Perth). The stories, reflections, and conversations shared throughout the event gave everyone plenty to think about.

A special mention to Alby (pictured), who took the opportunity to connect with fellow students from other local schools, Elders, The Mayor, Councillors, and community members throughout the morning — a great example of young people building confidence and real-world connections through community events.

Thank you to the organisers and everyone involved in creating such a welcoming and meaningful event.

As we head into National Reconciliation Week, Bunbury SWCC students have been out learning on Country through a series of cultural experiences across the South West.

Our Year 10 and 12 students recently participated in “The Noongar Way” workshop at the Wellington Forest Discovery Centre with John and Jodie from the Parks and Wildlife Service and the team from Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation, exploring Noongar culture, bush foods, storytelling, and traditional knowledge through hands-on activities.

Our Year 11 students visited the Boranup Forest where Sam Webb, Wadandi cultural leader from Noongar in the Bush Tours shared stories, culture, connection to Country, and incredible archaeology through a guided cave tour and bushwalk.

A huge thank you to everybody involved for helping to create these meaningful learning experiences for our students.

Two of Busselton’s Year 12 students, Olivia and Shalyssa, hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser event on campus today. Olivia gave an insightful presentation to our whole campus on the Cancer Council, before we were all able to enjoy some baked goodies. Special thanks to Year 12 student, Alexis, for baking many of the treats.
Many staff and students jumped on the opportunity of wearing pjs to school!

Year 12’s Big Day Out – Murdoch Uni Adventure

This week, a group of Year 12 SWCC Bunbury students went on a road trip to Perth to visit the amazing Murdoch University Campus. All 22 students and 7 staff members had the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the campus where we were joined by one of our past SWCC students who now attends the Uni.

Our students were then involved in a fun challenge to prove the innocence of an accused on a cold case. Students worked in small teams to crack the case, where they put their Quantitative Reasoning, Empirical Reasoning, Social Reasoning, and Critical Thinking skills to the test. Advisory staff couldn’t be prouder of the maturity of our students and how beautifully they represented SWCC.

Recently, the SWCC Bunbury Campus students attended the SW Careers Expo to explore future career, training and employment pathways. Representatives from local businesses and employers, industry bodies, vocational training providers, universities, apprenticeship companies and defence and emergency services were available to speak with students and provide them with information, free merchandise and mini experiences. What a great opportunity for our students to explore potential interests and career pathways!

The first workshop covered safety, design and measurement, and mitre cutting.
The elective provides fun, safe, hands-on learning – perfect for anyone who likes making things and wants to learn by doing.

Our Busselton campus has been busy with various commemorative ANZAC activities this week, including a student-led ANZAC ceremony.
Each Advisory prepared a floral wreath which were laid to honour those who lost their lives in service. The wreaths will again be used at local ANZAC Day ceremonies on Saturday.
Students also baked ANZAC biscuits, in memory of service people, who received biscuits in care packages during war time.
