Meet Dave!

Dave will be joining us as a Trainer Assessor and Online Learning Development Specialist.

We are excited to welcome Dave to the team! Learn a bit about Dave below!

My career began in education, working across a range of school settings in Western Australia, Victoria and overseas. I worked across primary schools, high schools and special needs centres, but my favourite appointment was as a School of the Air teacher in Kalgoorlie early in my career. These experiences helped me build a strong foundation in curriculum planning, student support and practical classroom delivery.

After completing postgraduate studies in international education policy, I transitioned into higher education, where I spent several years as a Digital Learning Designer. In this role, I supported the design and development of online learning resources, assessment materials, curriculum structures and technology-enhanced experiences for university students and teaching staff. I also worked as a university lecturer and mentor for pre-service teachers, supporting emerging educators to develop their teaching practice, assessment understanding and confidence in professional learning environments.

I’m excited to utilise my experience and passion as part of the team at Combined Team Services, where I look forward to developing high-quality training resources and supporting learners to build the knowledge, skills and confidence required for their chosen industries.

Last Saturday night, John accompanied Molly to the GetCareers Awards Night.

I began my career in the Royal Air Force as an Airframe Tradesman, gaining valuable experience in the aviation industry before transitioning into civil aviation, where I worked for several years developing strong technical and operational skills.

In 2004, I moved into the offshore oil and gas industry in the North Sea, expanding my experience within high-risk industrial environments. After relocating to Australia in 2008, I continued my career in the FIFO resources sector, working across a range of oil and gas facilities and mining operations.

Throughout this time, I worked in roles including Mechanical Tradesman, Site Supervisor, and Project Coordinator, gaining extensive hands-on and leadership experience across complex work sites.

In 2014, I qualified as a Work Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor, which deepened my commitment to workplace safety and strengthened my focus on protecting and supporting the workforce. This role also sparked a strong passion for mentoring and developing new personnel, helping others build the skills and confidence required to succeed in demanding industries.

Following my work in WHS, the opportunity to transition into the Training and Assessment (TAE) environment allowed me to combine my industry knowledge with a passion for developing people.

This ultimately led me to join the fantastic team at Combined Team Services, where I continue to support the development of skilled and safety-focused professionals.
