πŸ€– FIRST ROBOTICS CHALLENGE 2026 πŸ€–

Our Bunbury SHS Robotics Team is hard at work preparing for the First Robotics Challenge in Perth this August – and the energy is building!

These photos capture our dedicated Robotics Club students, who spend countless hours outside of school hours designing, building, and refining this year’s industrial-sized competition robot. Their passion, teamwork, and problem-solving are what make this program so special. πŸ’‘βš™οΈ

Over three action-packed days, we’ll compete against top teams from across the region in an exciting showcase of innovation and engineering excellence. After placing 3rd out of 34 teams last yearπŸ₯‰, we’re ready to take things to the next level in 2026!

A huge thank you to our valued sponsors for supporting our students and making opportunities like this possible:
πŸ™ EDF Power Solutions Australia – Bunbury Offshore Wind
πŸ™ Edith Cowan University (ECU)
πŸ™ Tronox

Your support empowers our students to learn real-world STEM skills and compete at a high level.

βš™οΈ Stay tuned for progress updates, behind-the-scenes builds, and competition highlights as we count down to Perth… exciting things are on the way! πŸ‘€

🌸 Follow The Dream – Sorry Day Flowers 🌸

Our Follow The Dream students have been busy creating beautiful β€œSorry Day Flowers” in preparation for the upcoming Walk of Reconciliation on 22 October 2026.

Through this meaningful lesson, students deepened their understanding of National Sorry Day and the importance of remembering the Stolen Generations. The activity encouraged reflection on kindness, respect, and understanding, while giving students a creative way to express these important themes.

Each student thoughtfully crafted three flowers β€”
🌼 one to keep,
🌼 one to share, and
🌼 one to contribute to the Reconciliation Art Installation.

You’ll be able to recognise our Bunbury Senior High School flowers by the unique fabric featured in each one (pictured). πŸ’›

A heartfelt thank you to Michelle Woosnam, Chairperson at South West Aboriginal Women's Collective, for spending time with our students, sharing her knowledge, and helping them understand the significance of Sorry Day and the Walk of Reconciliation.

We are proud of our students for engaging so respectfully and thoughtfully in this important learning experience. 🌿

🌈 Diversity Club Fundraiser – Thank You for Your Support! 🌈

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the Diversity Club stall today! πŸ’›

Students showed their support by purchasing and proudly wearing rainbow ribbons, helping to celebrate inclusivity and diversity within our school community.

There was also plenty of creativity on display with colourful face painting adding to the vibrant atmosphere! 🎨

All funds raised will go towards supporting a local organisation that works with LGBTQIA+ young people β€” an important cause that helps create safe, inclusive spaces for all.

Thank you to Ms Anderson and our Diversity Club members for organising this meaningful event and for the support shown by our school community. 🌈

Students at Cafe Brew and Beyond explored the art of garnishing and plating design, learning how presentation can enhance the appeal of sweet treats.

They discovered different techniques for arranging desserts, adding creative garnishes, and using colour and texture to create eye-catching displays.

After observing examples and discussing design ideas, the students applied their new skills to their own sweet treats. They demonstrated creativity, attention to detail, and pride in their work, producing beautifully presented desserts. The students did an amazing job showcasing their understanding of garnishing and plating, and their finished creations were both impressive and delicious-looking.
