So I hate R U OK Day…

I actually love the sentiment behind it, let’s check in on our friends and family and see how they’re doing, what’s not to love right!

But as someone who has suffered from mental health challenges on and off for 20 years, well the other 364 days of the year can be damn lonely.

I tried reaching out and telling people how low I was feeling, in fact I had several su***de attempts as I felt so alone and had lost the will to live, but apparently if you don’t do it on R U OK day people don’t want to hear about it…

I was told that it makes people feel uncomfortable talking about the mental pain I was going through at the time.

Our society seems to be able to understand and empathise when it comes to physical illnesses.

I used to wish I had cancer instead of depression as people seem to rally around cancer sufferers (as they rightly should!) but I felt a huge lack of support when it came to my mental illness.

So my challenge to you is this:

If someone tells you they are feeling down, rally around them!

And not just today on R U OK Day, but every day, until they beat the invisible illness they are suffering from.

Having healed my mental health through studying NLP and Hypnosis it is now my passion to help others recover, which is why I started my coaching practice, please feel free to reach out 365 days of the year 🥰

I was having a conversation with a girlfriend last night about how strong and confident I feel, for the first time in my life.

I’m putting myself and MY needs first…for the first time in my life!

And it feels so empowering 💪

I used to be the people pleaser, the depressed and anxious person, the angry person, the person scared what everyone thought of me, the person scared of being judged, the person who thought on the inside that I wasn’t good enough and would never measure up to other people’s expectations.

What was I thinking?!

I created all of that utter bullsh*t in my own mind 🤦🏻‍♀️

Knowing who I am, what I want, and where I’m going has given me the power to be stronger than my emotions and stop letting them control me 💪💪💪

I am me, and I love me ❤️

I will always be an emotional person, I actually love that about me, but if someone like me can train myself to be stronger than my emotions, anyone can 🥰

So excited to start this course, and will be doing it alongside my darling friend Shiralee Murray who is also super passionate about improving people’s mental health naturally 🥰

It was created by one of the Authors of The Better Brain book, so excited to get started 🙌

Our mental health and our emotional wellness are so intertwined with the right nutrition, they are not stand-alone 💯

It’s easier than you may think to change your thoughts!

Often people can become stuck with negative thoughts that seem impossible to change, but working with your unconscious can remove years of negative emotions attached to things that have happened to you in the past.

This allows new neural pathways to form with stronger more positive thoughts for a much happier life 💖

To change your life you have to change yourself.

Our tendency when things go wrong is to blame others, and expect them to change so we can be happy.

And how often does that work out for us?!

Only we have the power to make ourselves feel a certain way, even though it may not feel like that! It’s called Cause and Effect.

It’s natural to experience negative emotions if we are hurt by someone else’s actions, but it’s our choice whether we allow that initial response to continue to hurt us long term.

Recognising that we alone are responsible for our own happiness is so empowering, and gives us the ability to choose to be happy, regardless of others actions.

A recurring fear I hear from my clients is the fear of judgment from others.

Fearing what others may think can stop you from living authentically, and lead to anxiety and low self worth.

There is real strength in not caring what other people think about you, being confident enough in your own self worth not to be held back in life fearing what others may think, and it is possible!

One of the key things I work with my clients on is Perception.

It’s the whole “is the glass half full or half empty” analogy.

Seeing a situation and only noticing the negatives about it will leave you feeling negative and unfulfilled, instead practice seeing the good from each situation and your perception will shift to one of gratitude and fulfilment.

Such a subtle shift in mindset can change your whole day 🙌
