We are delighted to feature Darryl Dempster in our Genesis exhibition. A proud Noongar man from Kepa Kurl (Esperance), Western Australia, Darryl creates vibrant contemporary paintings filled with bold colour, intricate pattern and joyful energy. Living with limited verbal communication, he uses art as a powerful form of self-expression, sharing stories, emotions, and connections through dynamic mark-making and an intuitive use of colour.

Drawing inspiration from the world around him, Darryl's work celebrates creativity, imagination and the strength of visual storytelling. His distinctive style invites viewers into a richly expressive landscape where colour and movement communicate what words often cannot, creating works that are both uplifting and deeply personal.

Join us from Monday 14 September to view Darryl's artwork alongside works by other artists-in-residence from the HotHouse Company and All Saints' College Visual Arts Program.

We are excited to welcome Anna Louise Richardson to our Genesis exhibition. Based in the Peel region of Western Australia, her artwork explores themes of parenthood, intergenerational relationships, mortality, and the connection between humans and animals.

Working with charcoal and graphite, Richardson combines realism with stylised forms to create compelling visual narratives. Through her use of scale and perspective, familiar subjects are transformed into emotionally resonant works that invite reflection and connection.

We can't wait to see what she brings to the exhibition alongside artwork from All Saints' Visual Arts students, whom she helped mentor during her residency this year. Join us from Monday 14 September at Moores Building Art Space.

We're excited to present Genesis: HotHouse Company Visual Artist-in-Residence Exhibition, showing at Moores Building Art Space from Monday 14 September to Sunday 27 September.

Reflecting HotHouse's commitment to fostering creative collaboration between established artists and emerging practitioners, this free exhibition showcases works created by our artists-in-residence over the past two years, alongside a selection of student artworks produced during the artist residencies at All Saints' College.

Displayed side by side, these works celebrate the powerful connection between award-winning visual artists and the next generation of creatives.

Our dancers were excited to take part in a special dance workshop led by Nathan Turtur from Sydney Dance Company, who are currently touring Western Australia with their acclaimed production, Engine.

Nathan challenged and inspired our students as they learned an excerpt from 'Love Lock', a powerful piece from the show that celebrates dance's unique ability to connect, move, warn and empower audiences.

Opportunities like these give our students valuable insight into the life of a professional artist while inspiring them to pursue their own creative journeys.

A huge thank you to Nathan for sharing his expertise, energy and passion with our dancers, and for teaching them a section of this incredible work. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from one of Australia's leading contemporary dance companies. ✨💃
