St Joseph's Primary School, Bulahdelah St Joseph's Primary school is a small K to 6 school in Bulahdelah, NSW, Australia.
'Loving, Learning and Living like Jesus'.

St Joseph's Primary School, Bulahdelah is a small Kindergarten to Year 6 Catholic systemic school which is part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. It services the town of Bulahdelah and surrounding communities including Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest, Coolongolook and Wootton. Bulahdelah is located in the beautiful Myall/Great Lakes area, about an hour north of Newcastle. A capital works programme has

seen the school rebuilt and our students and staff now enjoy the comforts of a modern, air conditioned and well-resourced teaching environment in a pleasant rural setting. The large, beautiful grounds include a soccer field, covered play equipment, basketball court, cubby house and peace garden. The school was founded in 1955 by the Sisters of St Joseph who remain part of its proud tradition. Our school Vision and Mission Statement is: 'Loving, Learning and Living like Jesus. We are (and strive to be) a future oriented, caring and child focused community, celebrating and treasuring individual gifts.'

The school achieves this mission by giving students opportunities to use their gifts and reach their potential through a variety of academic, sporting, cultural and spiritual experiences and activities. The school also offers many quality teaching and learning programs including K-6 Spelling and Writing focus groups, Lexia, MiniLit and MultiLit to help cater for the individual needs of all students. The school has a strong focus on Information Technology, with a well equipped library and laptops and Interactive TVs used regularly in classrooms. A Learning Support Teacher and Teacher Librarian are employed and a range of environmental initiatives, including a vegetable garden, chickens, frog pond and native gardens are integrated into the curriculum. The school has also implemented Crunch and Sip' and is 'Asthma Friendly'. Most importantly our school is a small, caring and intimate family-like community built on a genuine care and compassion for its students, and is actively involved in the Bulahdelah parish and local community. Students of St Joseph's Primary, Bulahdelah are encouraged to continue their Catholic education by attending St Clare's High School, Taree or Catherine McCauley College, Medowie.

⛺️🛶Our final activity for camp was canoeing. It was a fun way to end our time. Even though Great Aussie Bush Camp is just down the road, it truly does feel like another world for our kids. It's such a valuable and memorable experience for the kids and teachers alike. They get to spend time outside the classroom and learn so much about each other. It's also wonderful to experience it with St Joey's Gloucester and new friends are made fast. The Year 5s get excited for the Sydney camp next year and to meet up with their buddies again. We're so proud of the positive behaviour always displayed by our group too - they're a credit to the Bulahdelah and Gloucester communities. 🛶⛺️

💚 National Child Protection Week 2026 💚

Conversations help us share ideas, deepen our understanding, and reflect on how we can better support children and families. However, real change happens when those conversations inspire action.

National Child Protection Week reminds us that creating safe, supportive environments for children is everyone's responsibility. Throughout the week and beyond, communities across Australia come together to promote the wellbeing of children and take positive steps to ensure they feel heard, valued, safe, and supported.

A huge thank you to Mrs Stubbs and students who have worked hard to create a beautiful display for the Decorate Your Space initiative, helping to spread this important message throughout our school community. Together, we can build a community where every child feels safe, cared for, and protected.

Year 5/6 met their mates from St Joey's Gloucester and dove straight into Great Aussie Bush Camp. Starting off with the giant swing, before learning archery, games of soccer and Newcombe ball, and spotlight. They're all tucked up in bed and ready for another big day tomorrow. Fingers crossed they're sleeping 🤞🏻😉
