INNER AWARENESS
Inner awareness refers to the invisible or metaphysical aspect of a person’s capacity to observe anything in life. The state of inner awareness is a state of extra sensory perception, inner vision or seeing. It is the ability to engage the senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and feeling in any given moment. Inner awareness is an internal position that recognises that one is more than just a mind, heart and body. This position acknowledges that there is something mysterious and unseen within all of these things that guide our movements of the soul. Awareness is often referred to as a state of being in the moment or in the present or now. This is opposed to being in the mind and operating out of the past and future. Inner awareness is a meditative ability, requiring daily discipline to self manage the stress of mind. It is the art of self remembering and being able to watch or witness thoughts, feelings, subtle movements and sensations within the physical and metaphysical system of being human. It is also referred to as the art of detached observation. This means to look in such a way that one does not become identified or lost in what one is observing. Such a state reinforces the central core of strength and awareness, which is always at the centre of ones being, whilst acting out life’s ordinary moments of life and death. Inner awareness becomes an inner reservoir of earth connection that fuels inner resources to continuously self discover and grow.
PURIFYING PAST PATTERNS
Most systems are created via imitation, belonging, agreement and repeated patterns. For example, we are as children formed in the likeness of our parents and immediate family environment. Energetic data and information is downloaded into every new baby and continues into adulthood. Our essential core of being becomes surrounded by patterns upon patterns of data that invariably has belonged to someone else, before it belonged to us. These patterns of behaviour, thinking and feeling become ways of life, that are able to consume and destroy individuality, authenticity, and unique growth and flowering. However this is not all, patterns also gift us with the building blocks to gain the strength necessary to give birth to our very own individuality, gifts and talents. These building blocks are in our genetic heritage, DNA, psychology and biology.
Until one is able to see or become aware of patterns within any system or self, one remains enslaved to their dynamics of repetition.
One of the greatest sources of stress for women is being trapped in an unconscious pattern of past that opposes the essential needs of the real or authentic woman inside the present.
It is only inner awareness and love that is able to dissolve old patterns of self destruction to reveal the strength and positive intention hidden in every one of them. Systemic stress management principles respect that most patterns are essentially formed from a state of blind love; and can be enabled to move into a state of conscious love and understanding.

DEFINING STRESS
There are many definitions of what stress is that outline a series of psychobiological responses that are representative of the “effects” of stress..
For example Wikipedia outlines many aspects of stress:
“BIOLOGICAL STRESS
The term stress had none of its contemporary connotations before the 1920s. It is a form of the Middle English destresse, derived via Old French from the Latin stringere, “to draw tight.”[1] It had long been in use in physics to refer to the internal distribution of a force exerted on a material body, resulting in strain. In the 1920s and 1930s, the term was occasionally being used in biological and psychological circles to refer to a mental strain, unwelcome happening, or, more medically, a harmful environmental agent that could cause illness. Walter Cannon used it in 1926 to refer to external factors that disrupted what he called homeostasis.[2]
Homeostasis is a concept central to the idea of stress. In biology, most biochemical processes strive to maintain equilibrium, a steady state that exists more as an ideal and less as an achievable condition. Environmental factors, internal or external stimuli, continually disrupt homeostasis; an organism’s present condition is a state in constant flux wavering about a homeostatic point that is that organism’s optimal condition for living. Factors causing an organism’s condition to waver away from homeostasis can be interpreted as stress. A life-threating situation such as a physical insult or prolonged starvation can greatly disrupt homeostasis. On the other hand, an organism’s effortful attempt at restoring conditions back to or near homeostasis, oftentimes consuming energy and natural resources, can also be interpreted as stress. In such instances, an organism’s fight-or-flight response recruits the body’s energy stores and focuses attention to overcome the challenge at hand. The ambiguity in defining this phenomenon was first recognized by Hans Selye in 1926 who loosely described stress as something that “…in addition to being itself, was also the cause of itself, and the result of itself.”[3] First to use the term in a biological context, Selye continued to define stress as “the non-specific response of the body to any demand placed upon it.” Present-day neuroscientists including Bruce McEwen and Jaap Koolhaas believe that stress, based on years of empirical research, “should be restricted to conditions where an environmental demand exceeds the natural regulatory capacity of an organism.”[4] Despite the numerous definitions given to stress, homeostasis appears to lie at its core.”
WHAT IS HOMEOSTASIS?
Very briefly, Wikipedia defines homeostasis as follows:
“Homeostasis (from Greek: ὅμοιος, hómoios, “similar”[1], and στάσις, stásis, “standing still”[2]) is the property of a system that regulates its internal environment and tends to maintain a stable, constant condition of properties such as temperature or Ph. It can be either an open or closed system.”
In short homeostasis applies to the human ability to maintain balance as far as mental and physical and spiritual health is concerned. Much has been written and researched about this topic in scientific terms however little has entered the very core of all homeostatic processes which is, as the origin of the word reveals.
The original definition of the word means, the ability to remain “similar”, and “stand still”. Homeostasis is dependent upon a growing awareness of “sameness” within the “silence and stillness” of the inner being. This is the essence of all meditative practice, all homeostatic function and stress management. The focus of this workshop is upon the inner health that is achievable via meditation in action.
WHAT ARE SPIRIT-MIND MOVEMENTS OF THE SOUL (SMMOTS)?
Spirit mind movements of the soul appeared for the first time during the works and living experiments within the life and loves of Bert Hellinger. There are many descriptions of Bert and his work on the internet, for those that require historical information on the subject of classical family constellations. The object of this description however, is to bypass the normal psycho-logical jargon used to describe this work and to focus upon the spiritual component inherent in constellations. Bert’s passion for phenomenology, personal search for truth, compassionate effort to alleviate human suffering and his experiments with constellations, have now become evidence based spiritual practice gaining great popularity and momentum in the 21st century. This introduction is offered to widen awareness of the possibilities inherent in the subtle soul movement of being human. It is for education purposes only and encourages the reader to explore the experiential learning approach, which is entirely dependent upon personal individual learner participation and attitude awareness.
Departing from traditional systematic models of normal problem solving practice; this work bypasses intellectual approaches to knowledge based structure and discipline, usually engaged to explore and resolve dysfunction of any family, group or business organization. It recognises that helping modalities that use intellect and mind alone provide a one dimensional approach to problem solving. Psychology itself is one dimensional and dependent upon analysis and interpretation of minds mental processes. In short, it is mind trying to solve the mind; the problem trying to solve the problem. This work provides the option and opportunity to move beyond the mind. SMMOTS offer a self-organizing educational modality, which is multidimensional in its approach to alleviate human suffering. This is also a healing modality that includes, uses, and transcends the very structure of human mind and its never-ending parade of unsolvable problems.
The holistic and integral approach of SMMOTS provides a step by step process and an in depth intuitive overview of organizational and organic flow within any system. Normal criteria based grids, and analytical/identification action plans for problem solving are largely bypassed and so are troubleshooting, evaluating and monitoring of results. The work differs from normal problem solving approaches, in that its focus is orientated to be inclusive of connection to wider existential elements, inclusive of the nature of spirit, metaphysical reality and cosmos. Not only that, it recognises that it is these existential elements of a systems environment that form or create the movements towards resolution; not the individual, client, therapist or facilitator.
CHARACTERISTICS
Constellations set up with SMMOTS are a multidimensional self organizing, self management tool supported by evidence based practice, for specific target groups seeking solutions for problems affecting family and organizations.
These constellations provide a complimentary spiritually integrated care pathway for mental, physical and spiritual health that can be easily adapted to work with the unique problems of any system of people.
Outcomes are partially tied to specific interventions by the professional facilitating a constellation; therefore they are able to be predictable as well as exploratory, for both facilitator and client.
The design of a constellation is able to identify important systemic elements that help a client move beyond the mind into spiritual intelligence.
The constellation field grounds itself in the science of the inner (meditation) and connects the inner experience to the outer image of circumstance, event or fact. This connection facilitates emergence of solutions out of systemic entanglement.
The overall purpose of a constellation is to provide continuous quality improvement principles for health care workers, organizations, families and all interdependent systems of people and life.
SMMOTS links science, self and systems organization, clinical practice, transformative education, meditation and spiritual awareness, in a “knowing field,” that bridges intelligence of spirit to mind.
Constellations can be used by health care workers and business organizations to define the best practice processes and directions for maximum performance outcomes and success in the workplace. Their outcomes improve integration in all areas of a system helping members to understand their roles and responsibilities better.
SMMOTS constellations set up both, an interpersonal and inter-spiritual field, where emergent wisdom arises via inner exploration of mental images of past and new incoming information from existential source.
There are many books written about the female psyche and many more attempting to empower the feminine and liberate women from a paternally dominated past that spans thousands of years. Like many self help or self development books their focus has been “self-improvement”. This is, as if the self needs improving, or is not ok as it is. Their authors offer many ideas that involve commitment to “doi
ng”, to “changing” or to “getting rid”, of pain, problems or personas that maybe in the way of “the perfect”, liberated, free, you! Such books reflect how modern men and women are being affected daily by an unconscious, all consuming desire that strives towards the idea of perfection in some way. Perhaps this originates with religious idealization of the birth of “perfect men”, e.g. Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, etc. Perhaps it does not. Wherever it originates it is clear that very few of us feel perfect the way that we are. I know because I have spent the last 30 years seeking the “self improvement” of which I speak.
What if the search for the perfect self, was changed to the search for “wholeness?” What if the desire to be perfect really meant the desire to become whole or one? What if the whole concept of being perfect was thrown down another existential hole in the earth, never to be resurrected again? What if men and women longed to become one or a whole human being, unfragmented, undivided, not split in any way? Takes a lot of the pressure off being human doesn’t it? So ladies, lets take a load off right now before we go any further and let go of this idea of perfection. Our search is for wholeness as a woman and beyond that, as a human being. Embracing the wholeness of our being is empowerment. Growing awareness of all the many different parts that make up being female is instrumental when orchestrating the divinity of being a woman. Embracing wholeness refers to the archetypical “weaver” that resides in a woman’s soul. The weaver that winds and weaves all the fine fragments of her soul into the very fabric foundations are made of. The art of weaving, sewing, knitting and cooking are all traditionally hers. Each involves the bringing together, the binding and birthing of beauty.
Birthing is what flows through her. It defines her. In this she is unique, different, delicious and devilish in her relation to man. Her womb houses the beginnings of life and gives birth to humanity. She is made for this, her physiology demands it. Her past psychology has been manipulated, suppressed and conditioned to live in the shadows of service to men. Her present psychology has been encouraged and led to come out of the shadows and shine in her own right. Leaders of female emancipation have fought for rights, reacting against past oppression. They have pushed for equality of the sexes and liberation from paternal domination and patterning. In doing so they have imitated the “masculine” and allowed themselves to become polluted by left brain thinking. Family structures and traditions have dissolved because of it and sexual roles and identities redefined in the wake of it. All these movements have contributed something to the evolving consciousness of women. However few are freed yet. Why not?
Perhaps she doesn’t need freeing. Perhaps she is perfect the way she is. “Purrrrfectly” different to man……fact! Few authors, psychologists and motivational icons are beginning to enjoy this fact. Their writings and works are highlighting the differences between the sexes in humorous, refreshing presentations that are enlightening the old battlefields of men and women. Therapists and psychologists alike seem to be moving more in a direction of reconciliation based upon honoring differences between the sexes as a way to emancipation and freedom for all. This training attempts to imbibe a similar lighthearted approach. It has an approach that encourages expanding and growing awareness around such differences, in an attempt to reveal a bigger picture of reality. It is my experience that truth and reality always remain illusive in a state of unawareness, that holds to a smaller picture of perception. The big picture always enlightens then relaxes into the whole. Relaxing into the “whole” is to feel in a right place, in a right order of things with existence itself. Acknowledging, respecting and honoring those “differences” is the real challenge for modern woman. Is she capable of it? Respecting differences is about looking at the facts. Facts void of feminine idealism and fantasy. Facts full of what is, as it is. Is she willing to pay the price for honoring and respecting differences? In the face of such facts she will be invited by life itself to bow down to those differences. This very act of bowing is to be born out of a heart heavy and brimming with gratitude. A heart that is full of understanding, insight and self love for being born a woman.
Robert Ardrey in his book “The Social Contract. A personal inquiry into the evolutionary sources of order and disorder” 1970 says the following….
“As the womb is the cradle of the egg, so is society the cradle of the individual in his life of experience that will reduce, display or enhance the range of possibilities which accident originally commanded.”
The “cradle” of society is made of conscience, and we as parents have a great responsibility to become aware of that conscience. It is that conscience that will destroy or create possibilities for greatness, in not only the life of your children, but in your own inherent greatness as a parent.
Whether we like it or not parenting and punishing seem to have gone hand in hand so far. The question of whether to punish or not puts us all in quite a predicament. I mean as a parent how much time do you spend caught in the inner polarity of your own personal conscience, while trying to teach, guide or direct your kids safely through the jungle of life? Not only parents and children are caught up in this sphere of personal and collective conscience. The whole of evolutionary psychology is colored by the same. Genetics, attitude, social norms, behavioral controls, emotions, motivation, and decisions are all affected by conscience.
Whatever we do or don’t do as parents is a direct consequence of conscience. Each action executed as a parent is already pre planned, directed and formulated in conscience well before it enters the present. And you thought you were in charge! Think again…or better still learn not to think for a few moments and discover a new way of loving.
