💯 100 Days to Go! 🎓

This morning, our Year 12 cohort celebrated a massive milestone with breakfast on The Green! 🌱

With just 100 days of school left, our seniors are officially on the home stretch. While academic focus is high, they are also currently taking part in our Leave Well Seminar Series during Academic Care lessons.

This three-module program is designed to equip our students with the key insights, resources and life skills they need to transition successfully into life after Flinders. From financial literacy and "life admin" to navigating ethical relationships, they are learning how to step confidently into their future pathways. 🚀

Parents, save the date - Thursday, 23 July 2026 at 6:00pm

Shaping a Greener Future 🌍

Students across the College are turning ideas into action and making sustainability a daily habit. ♻️

In the Primary School, our Years 5 and 6 Round Square committee members have been collaborating with Sunshine Coast Council Envirocom (Waste & Environment) to help shape the 2026 Round Square project.

So far, they’ve conducted a waste audit to plan their next steps and explored exciting future initiatives like organic recycling and worm farms. The students are also hoping to introduce more yellow MURF recycle bins to the Primary campus soon! 🙌

Meanwhile, in the Secondary School, Year 8 student Kuni K and our Environment Authority are leading an initiative, "Urembo: Small products, Big Impact" to recycle beauty products using the pink recycling bins found around the College. These bins will be collected soon so Friday is the final opportunity to drop off any used (and clean) beauty or hair care products.

Congratulations to all students involved for leading meaningful change and helping create a more sustainable future for our community. ♻️

Champions at the Queensland Youth Music Awards! 🏆

Congratulations to Chamber Voices on an outstanding achievement at the Queensland Youth Music Awards where they were awarded Gold 🏅 and announced as the Overall Winner of the Advanced Secondary Choir Section! 🏆👏

In a highly competitive field featuring some of South East Queensland’s leading secondary school choirs, our singers performed with artistry, maturity, and heart. The adjudicators praised the choir’s “impressive phrase contouring and stunning soft singing” and their “gorgeous purity of supported and controlled tone” and added “You all shone with musical integrity”. 🙌

We're incredibly proud of this remarkable group of young musicians. 👏

This success follows the Capriccio Strings Silver Award and the Wind Symphony' Gold Award earlier this month. 👏🥈🥇 We now wish our Stage Band all the very best as they prepare to take the stage next week.

It’s National Simultaneous Storytime Day! 📚

Today, our Primary students joined more than two million readers across Australia to celebrate the joy of reading by sharing the same story at the same time.

This year’s featured book, “Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller” by Adam Wallace and Christopher Nielsen, illustrated by Jake A. Minton was brought to life during a fun and interactive lunchtime session in the Wonderarium.

A big thank you to Mrs Avakian, Mrs Burns and our wonderful teachers, parents and students who helped create such a joyful experience and make the story leap off the page! 🦘

Independent District Cross Country Highlights 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Mud, rain and challenging conditions couldn’t stop our Flinders runners at last week’s Independent District Cross Country Championships at Beerwah. Battling through muddy tracks and heavy downpours, our athletes showed incredible grit and truly embraced the team motto to “get comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

Flinders achieved outstanding results across both junior and senior divisions. Our 9-12 Years team placed an impressive 3rd overall, while our 13-19 Years team secured a strong 4th place overall. 👏

There were plenty of standout performances throughout the day, including individual regional qualifiers and outstanding first place finishes in the 10 Years and 15 Years Boys divisions. Our 10 Years Boys, 11 Years Boys and 11 Years Girls all secured podium finishes, while the 15 Years Boys delivered a dominant team performance. The 15 Years Girls also impressed with an exceptional team effort, securing four places inside the top seven.

Congratulations to all our competitors on their determination, resilience and support of one another throughout the event. We wish our regional qualifiers the very best for the next stage of competition.

📸 Parents and carers can view full results via MyFlinders and additional photos through the College photo gallery, pixevety.
