We've had trophies make a big appearance over our last few posts!!!

But that's because we're so proud of our members Anthony and Jake, for believing in themselves and stepping into a Speech competition recently.

Scary? Yes.
Unknown territory. Definitely.

But another level of seeing what you're made of, and testing the skills and information you've learnt in each Toastmasters meeting, and putting them into action. It's not about winning, but showing up and giving it your best.

Congratulations Anthony and Jake - what a sterling effort, and we can't wait to see how you go in the next Division contest in 2026.

When you join Toastmasters, you can expect a lot of things.

A spike in self confidence. Reduction in nerves. Friendship and community.

But there's also an opportunity to stretch yourself further than you ever thought possible, by entering a competition. Now, before you go freaking out, and checking your racing pulse.....this is JUST a possibility. Not for everyone, but for those who would like to see - what if?

Some of our Toasties did just that over the weekend, and came home with wins and accolades. The surprise was real! But more than that, the sense of self pride, self appreciation and knowledge that they are far more capable of what they ever thought.

What's next?!

Yes, it's THAT time of year again - Speech Competition Time!

Yesterday, we gathered for our area division competition, which saw the local clubs all meet to compete in various speech categories.

It's the perfect time for all our club members to push and stretch themselves just that little bit more, outside the comfort of our club environment - and stand next to other talented speakers from other clubs.

We could not have been prouder of our club results!!

Anthony took first place in Evaluations.
Andrea took second place in the International category.
Jake took first place in the Humorous speech.

And a huge thank you to Matt for being a judge, and Eliza for stepping into a Timers role. Your assistance is just as valuable!

We are so, so proud of all your efforts and desire to grow yourselves not only as speakers, but creative individuals. There'll be celebrations at our next meeting, that's for sure!!

If you'd like to know what is in it for you, come along to one of our meetings. The next one is Tuesday 11th October. We don't bite!

We love it when visitors come through and experience our meetings, then join us! It's a true testament to them seeing the value in Toastmasters, and how it can change the way they not only present themselves, but how they SEE themselves.

Meet Shane....

Already an accomplished presenter of business to large groups, he still felt the need to stretch himself even further, and felt that Toastmasters could do that for him.

We can't wait to see what you learn along the way Shane. Welcome!

No club runs itself.

It takes a dedicated team of committed members, who work diligently in the background, working tirelessly to keep the wheels and cogs going.

This all ensures each meeting runs smoothly, and all guests enjoy their experience when visiting.

Andrea has again joined the committee, and Mia will be stepping into a role which will see her shaping each physical meeting. We are so grateful for each member of our executive committee, for all their efforts in making our club great!

At Toastmasters, you don't just learn to speak.

You must also learn to listen.........

There's a real skill to listening to someone speaking, and understanding what is said, or not said. Has the message been received, or lost in translation? Was there enough emotion conveyed, to match the content of the speech?

Feedback is an essential tool, where we learn things that can be applied to our next speech. All in a supportive and uplifting environment. And it all comes from listening first.

Our members are what create our wonderful club. Together, we all create friendships, connections, and memorable conversations.

Varun has been part of our club for over a year, and has proved himself to be a poignant, clear and inspiring speaker. We have watched him take on feedback and weave it into his consequent speeches, becoming better each time. Which is what all Toastmasters is about!

Varun says of his time in Toastmasters.... "I came here because I had to do a presentation for medical school. And it was terrible. I knew I had to do something. Toastmasters has taught me so much, and the friendships I've made here have been wonderful. I had the chance to redo the presentation, and it was so much better after all I've learnt. I recommend Toastmasters so highly now because of this"

Varun is now off to continue his medical career up north, so we'll lose him from our club. Good luck with everything Varun, we'll miss you!!!

Exciting week at Toastmasters!

This week we celebrated two special milestones:

Tash officially became a member of our club! We’re so excited to see her journey unfold and to support her every step of the way.

Eliza delivered her Ice Breaker speech! The Ice Breaker is such an important milestone, giving new members the chance to share a topic they feel comfortable with as they begin their Toastmasters journey. Eliza did a fantastic job, and we can’t wait to see her continue to grow.

A big congratulations to both Tash and Eliza, our club is lucky to have you!
