Something cute that I repaired recently - some worn elbows in Adrian’s wool jumpers.
We used very gorgeous boiled wool patches and recycled merino wool yarn to sew the blanket stitch edge.
I personally love the contrast colours - a fun feature to revive your much-loved knitwear perhaps?!

Somehow it’s almost a year later and I’m just getting around to sharing these hehe 🙃
A few thoughtful designs I sampled up for that are can be worn in multiple ways.
I love working with designers that have a considered approach to creating 💝

You have probably heard that Melbournes last pleater (which has operated for over 100 years!) has recently closed its doors.
It’s been a sad year where we’ve seen many local manufacturers cease operation, along with the myriad brands that relied on them.
I will always regret not actually visiting and seeing the artisanal skill in person but fee so lucky to have had the opportunity to make this pleated skirt for a client.
Thankyou
And thankyou for the pattern making skills

I’ve been pretty quiet on here lately bc the juggle with freelance work and parenting is tough!
Instead of that stress, I’ve been working with the angels at .studios for the past year and a bit 💘
Here are some very infrequent BTS shots (and professional ones!) of my sample sewing work.
Andria has created some very cute and spicy new pieces that we’re working away on currently 🪡✂️
We’re excited to share them soon 💘

Kate & Jake 💘
Kate was an absolute dream to work with - funny, kind, beautiful and a teacher too - an all-round great woman.
Kate wanted a dress to match her relaxed vibe, so we chose white textured linen, cut into an elegant design.
A low cut bodice, open-back, with balloon sleeves and a short train - perfect details for a timeless gown.

Congrats for launching your label🪡
It’s been a lovely couple of months spent working on sample and production sewing.
I have a big crush on this brand, all the designs I’ve seen so far (which will hopefully launch soon) feel invigorating for a time when we have so many saturated styles being repeated.
It feels exciting to see 🪡

Yes I do still make things 😬
I will have to try and share more now that I’m back teaching. I’m also very happy to not play along with that algorithm..
This is a beautiful custom silk CDC shirt I made a lil while ago for my darling Erica 💘

I was lucky enough to work with Nabilah for my last custom piece of the year, in 2022.
She was a sweetheart to work with and it makes me so happy to see her looking so beautiful 💝

After a year off from dressmaking (while raising a not-so-smol toddler), I’m now ready to pick up the tools again and accept bridal commissions for 2024 from my home studio.
I’ll have limited spots while juggling freelancing, teaching and mothering so best to get in touch with plenty of time to prepare 💝

Some recent sample making that involved many hours of hand sewing 🪡
This historical sewing technique is called ‘cartridge pleating’, it’s similar to traditional hand-smocking. Small cartridge pleaters can be used to create the same effect, but only for narrow widths of fabric.
It’s such a rarity to use hand-sewing skills in the industry today, so this was a real treat 🥹
