This Speech Pathology Week, Majarlin is proud to celebrate the role communication plays in helping people connect, participate and feel a sense of belonging in their communities.

At Majarlin, our Speech Pathology Clinical Educator works alongside students, clinicians and community partners to give the next generation of clinicians the opportunity to learn and experience what working in our region is like.

We’re proud to support these experiences and be part of a team that recognises communication as more than just words. It’s connection, participation and belonging.

Last week, we welcomed representatives from our consortium universities including Murdoch, Curtin, Charles Darwin and Edith Cowan for the 2026 Majarlin Consortium Meeting in Broome.

The meeting brought partners together to strengthen collaboration and continue important conversations around building a culturally responsive, remote health workforce for the Kimberley.

Across the week, our attendees took part in:
• A campus tour and welcome dinner
• Bush medicine and bush tucker walking tour with Neville Poelina from Uptuyu
• Indigenous health presentation from Petrine McCrohan of Emama Nguda Aboriginal Corporation titled Culture and Healing in Aboriginal Wellbeing
• Two roundtable discussions focused on culturally respectful practice and growing the First Nations health workforce
• Collaborative discussions around student placements, shared priorities and future opportunities across the region.

Thank you to our presenters, partners, administration team and cultural security team for helping create a meaningful and educational experience for all participants.
