🌟 Alpha Kids Academy SCN2A Raffle Fundraiser 🌟

We are so excited to officially announce our Alpha Kids Academy Raffle Fundraiser! 🤗

Over the next two weeks, our beautiful raffle hampers will be on display in the front foyer for everyone to admire. Each hamper has been thoughtfully created and is valued between $200–$750, making them well worth entering for! 🎁

🎟 How to enter:
Simply scan the QR code on the raffle posters displayed around the centre. This will take you directly to the Cure SCN2A Foundation donation page.

This fundraiser is especially close to our hearts as we raise money for a beautiful boy in our centre, Jack, from the Kookaburras Room. Jack is currently battling a rare genetic mutation called SCN2A, which affects the way his brain sends messages to his body 🧠✨

This week, Alpha Kids Brookvale celebrated National SCN2A awareness day! 💙💜💚

One of our little friends in the centre has a rare gene mutation that affects how his brain sends signals to his body! We took this as the perfect opportunity to spread awareness about individual differences, discuss how all brains are different and learn to care for those around us with kindness and respect! 🧠✨

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of meeting two adorable little dogs, Charlie and Beni 🥹. Thank you to our families from bringing them in to meet us!

Happy Valentine’s Day 💕

Yesterday, the Koalas had the opportunity to have one of our Koala mums come in and read a Valentines book with them 📚! The rest of our Alpha Kids spent the day completing some fun crafts full of love❤️🌹.

Today, our Alpha Kids had so much fun decorating, making and eating some Pizza!

Yesterday, we celebrated World Read Aloud Day together 📚! We had lots of fun sharing stories in both big group and small group experiences, giving children opportunities to listen, engage, and share their ideas. Books were available throughout the day for children to independently explore, supporting their curiosity and love of reading.

We were also very lucky to have one of our Possums’ dads join us to read a book with the children! The children loved sharing this special reading time together and it helped strengthen our sense of community and connection through storytelling 🎉.

We International Kite Day, an annual event on January 14th that coincides with Makar Sankranti (Uttarayan), a joyful harvest festival in India. This special day marks the end of winter and celebrates new beginnings, community and cultural connection. In places like Gujarat, India, families and communities gather for the famous International Kite Festival, flying colourful kites together as part of tradition and shared celebration.

Our children created their own kites and engaged in meaningful conversations about the cultural significance of kite flying around the world. Through this experience, they explored how different communities celebrate seasons, harvests and unity through traditional practices. Educators supported children to respect and appreciate cultural diversity, connect with global traditions, and reflect on their own experiences and sense of belonging.

This learning experience supports:
• EYLF Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world by learning about cultural traditions and celebrations from diverse communities.
• EYLF Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners through hands-on creativity, problem-solving and expressive arts.
• NQS Quality Area 1: Educational Program and Practice through intentional teaching and culturally responsive learning experiences.
