Brookton District High School’s NAIDOC Week began with an opening ceremony on Monday, attended by local Elders and community members. The celebrations included a wonderful morning tea, beautifully catered by our Year 9/10 class.

The week concluded with all classes visiting Miley Pool, where students had the opportunity to explore this significant local site and listen to Nan Olive share its importance to Noongar families. Nan Olive also told stories helping students deepen their understanding of local culture, history and connection to Country.

Did you know it was important for the whole community too as it was the first "swimming pool" back in the day.

Our student councillors hosted our school assembly this week. They performed a very entertaining play, script written by MrMcIntyre, with lots of contemporary puns, and great use of props (although the front row got a bit wet during the weather report!)
