From Willyama Big Freeze Organiser Bianca Iannone -
Today is the day of our annual Willyama Big Freeze!

While today will be filled with laughter, ice water, snags, cakes and plenty of good-natured embarrassment for our sliders, it's important to remember why we're doing this.

For me, this cause hits close to home. Watching Nash and his mum navigate life after losing someone to MND has showed me the lasting impact this disease has on families; not just on the hard days, but every day. MND takes away years that families should have had with the people they love. It changes lives forever, forcing loved ones to watch someone they care about lose abilities most of us take for granted, while finding the strength to face circumstances no family should ever have to endure.

We also honour Neale Daniher. A man who, after his diagnosis, stepped forward into one of the most powerful advocacy journeys this country has seen. Through courage, honesty and relentless determination, he helped transform MND from something many didn’t understand into a cause the whole nation could rally behind. He showed us that the mark of a person is not what they say, it's what they do with the time they are given; leaving a legacy of dignity, hope and action that continues to drive this fight forward.

Every dollar raised today helps fund research, support services, and hope. Hope that one day families won't have to hear that there is no cure. Hope that one day people diagnosed with MND will have more options than simply making the most of the time they have left.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, baked, bought raffle tickets, worn blue, or agreed to sit under a bucket of freezing water today. Every contribution makes a difference.

For Neale, for Pup, for everyone affected by this disease; Willyama plays on.
