📣 Attention Broken Hill Year 12 Students 📣

We're opening our doors to all local Year 12 students in the lead up to and during the upcoming HSC exams!

Our centre is normally home to Broken Hill's university students — for the exam period, we're making that same quiet, focused study environment available to you. It's a good place to study away from the distractions of home.

From Monday 14 September 2026, Year 12 students can register to access our services and facilities between 9am and 3:30pm on Monday's, 9am and 5pm, Tuesday to Friday.

By registering, students will gain access to:
· High-speed internet
· Reliable dual-screen computers
· Multiple study spaces
· Full kitchen facilities (free tea, coffee and biccys)

📣 Closing Sunday at 6pm 📣

The together with CUC Far West, are excited to announce the 2026 Corolla Capers Rural Nursing Scholarship, for students undertaking undergraduate nursing studies. The scholarships aim to support local people in their pursuits of nursing qualifications, acknowledging the expenses involved in studying and preparing for work in rural and isolated communities.

A total funding pool of $6,500 is available. Scholarships will be awarded on merit and may be offered to one or two applicants. Applicants must be registered to access the services and facilities at CUC Far West and be undertaking study at an Australian university.

Applications open Monday 13 July at 9am and close Sunday 30 August at 6pm.

CUC Far West Centre Manager Elle Pearson recently joined ABC Broken Hill to chat about Semester 1 and share what’s been happening at the Centre.

Elle highlighted the growing number of students now studying with CUC Far West, along with the wide range of support available for regional learners — from welcoming study spaces and high‑speed internet to academic resources and personalised one‑on‑one support.

It was a great chance to showcase the important role CUC Far West plays in making higher education more accessible across our region, and to celebrate some of the wins from the first half of the year.
